The lightweight competitor Beneil Dariush is all set on his journey to be the next big name in UFC. The fighter is at a pivoting point in his life, where he is just a couple of bouts away from potentially winning his first UFC title.
The Iranian fighter has never shied away from competing. Dariush has always accepted whatever bout or competitor he was presented with. However, in some unfortunate bouts, he had to pull out before the fights pertaining to his injuries.
The adversities have obscured his way twice since the inception of his UFC career in 2014. Dariush dropped out of the fight against Drakkar Klose at UFC Fight Night 155 in July 2019. The exact details of his injury were not made public. Despite the injury, the BJJ expert made a comeback in just 3 months.
The second and most serious injury Beneil Dariush has suffered to date is his broken fibula. The lightweight contender was all set to face the current UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev on 26 February 2022 at UFC Fight Night 202.
Per Beneil Dariush (@beneildariush), he has visited four physicians regarding his broken fibula. Three suggested physical therapy, one advised surgery. As of now, he is going with PT and trying to avoid surgery. Still no firm timeframe on his return, but no surgery is good news.

The bout was a path for Dariush towards his future title bout but he withdrew from the event due to his ankle injury. The injury occurred during a training session, where the weight came down on his ankle awkwardly, leading to his fibula bone being broken.
The fighter decided to proceed with physical therapy instead of undergoing surgery.
Charles Oliveira’s injury before his bout against Beneil Dariush
Dariush’s next opponent, Charles Oliveira underwent a similar injury preceding the bout. “Do Bronx’ was originally set to face off against Beneil in the UFC 288 event in May. But Oliveira withdrew the from card owing to an injury.

The former lightweight champion then shedded some light on his injury on Instagram. Oliveira reported getting injured during wrestling practice.
“I tried to train, I tried to do everything I could, but we couldn’t, so we pulled out of the fight… I have to stay for a few days so I can go back to training soon. And then we’ll reschedule the fight.”
He also added that he would be returning back to training soon and that he was grateful for everyone’s concern.
“I’ll be back to training pretty soon. That’s it, I had a small injury and decided to pull out so I wouldn’t fight injured. We’ve made that mistake once and I didn’t want to do it again. We’re taking one step back so we can take one, two, three steps forward soon.”
Hence the fight between these top-ranked lightweights would be a thing to behold as both of them will be giving their best shot in the Octagon. But only time will decide who is the best among them.
