Islam Makhachev winning the decision at UFC 284, has upset a lot of people. Every Australian present in the RAC Arena on February 12 vehemently protested the decision with a chorus of boos. Despite this, Makhachev proudly claimed in his octagon interview that he was now the best fighter in the world.
Islam’s UFC 267 opponent, Dan Hooker is also one of the ones who believe Alexander Volkanovski should have gotten the nod in the UFC 284 main event. He made some wild accusations about his former rival Makhachev on his Twitter page. And only hours later, Islam Makhachev seemed to respond in his own tongue-in-cheek manner.

Makhachev posted a story on his Instagram account from the team bus. The story had the caption, “Australia are you upset? But I told you I will.” In the Instagram story, Islam Makhachev and his teammates mocked Australian sports fans by appropriating the “Aussie” chant. For those who don’t know, this is a variation of the British “Oggy, Oggy, Oggy” chant.
Makhachev held the camera and led the chant. He screamed, “Aussie, Aussie, Aussie,” and his teammates responded with the customary, “Oi, oi, oi.” Everyone on the bus then burst into laughter, as did Makhachev. Dan Hooker has not yet responded to this video from Makhachev but he will surely not take this lying down.
What did Dan Hooker say about Islam Makhachev?
A few hours ago, Dan Hooker sent out some fairly confusing and cryptic Tweets. The usually cheerful Hooker’s first tweet had an angry and spiteful tone. In it, he wrote, “Dumb c**t thinks he can fly to Australia hire a nurse to give him an I.V and we won’t find out. Cheating dog.”

The people in the comments immediately assumed that Hooker was talking about Makhachev but the Kiwi kept it vague initially. Although based on his initial tweets, it seems the “Hangman” received some insider information about a potential violation of the rules. He then went after USADA and labeled them as useless for not suspending Makhachev per their own rules.
In the next tweet, Dan said that he could not be proven wrong and dared anyone to do so. The follow-up to this Tweet read, “He doesn’t cheat, he doesn’t win.” Till this point, Hooker did not reveal who this cheater was.

However, when a fan from the US East Coast asked Dan who he was talking about, the UFC lightweight responded with only 3 words. “Islam is a cheat,” wrote Dan. The tweet currently has been viewed by more than 1.2 million people in just over 5 hours. It is clear that Dan Hooker still harbors some animosity towards Islam Makhachev after he was defeated by the Dagestani champ at UFC 267.
