Former UFC champion Conor McGregor had commented about Nate Diaz’s background before their fight at UFC 202, “little cholo gangster from the hood.” Replying to this, Diaz said that the Irishman had no idea where he came from, and the fact that he made it so big even with so many hardships is something to be proud of.
“It’s hardcore where I live. If he would have came from where I come from, he wouldn’t have made it, man. Nobody makes it out of where we come from and you don’t know what I’ve been through.” – said the former UFC lightweight title contender.
So, it just goes on to show how serious and proud Diaz is when it comes to his background and heritage.
Controversy surrounds Nate Diaz’s n-word pass
Nate Diaz is not exactly the person who will hold back on his opinions. He speaks his heart out and this has led to a good amount of controversies throughout his career.
In an Instagram live stream in August, 2022, Diaz was fed up of a USADA agent who was not ready to leave the fighter’s house until they got appropriate amount of urine samples. So, Diaz took his phone and started to record the USADA employee. Moreover, he used the choicest of words for him including the n-word.

This sparked a debate among the MMA community about whether Nate Diaz was allowed to say the N-word. While some questioned this controversial act from the UFC fighter, others were not too bothered as they thought Diaz of all people is allowed to say this, given his background.
The UFC veteran is now a free agent and is all set to make his debut in pro-boxing. He will be up against YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul for a 10-round bout in Dallas, Texas on August 5.
