Every now and then we come across a horrifying robbery story. Similarly, UFC’s Polyana Viana also had a similar experience. However, the robber in this instance made the grave error of mistaking the fighter for an ordinary damsel in distress.
In 2019, Polyana Viana was waiting for an Uber outside her apartment. Unbeknownst to the UFC fighter, a crook managed to creep up on her. The assailant who appeared to be armed and demanded Viana to empty her pockets and hand over her phone. However, the fighter was not fazed in the slightest.
Taking matters into her own hands, Viana closed the distance landing two punches and a kick on the robber. Then, she proceeded to take him down and locked things up with a rear-naked choke until the police arrived. Speaking to MMA Junkie, Viana said, “I threw two punches and a kick. He fell, then I caught him in a rear-naked choke. Then I sat him down in the same place we were before and said, ‘Now we’ll wait for the police.”
According to Polyana, the robber tried to make it seem as though he had a weapon. However, Dama de Ferro was quick to realize that it was only a piece of cardboard. As such, she decided to close the distance between her and the mugger before holding him in a choke. Following this, Polyana alerted passersby of the situation, who called the police. Whilst some may think that it was a traumatic experience for Viana, it was the robber who ended up in the ER instead.
Polyana Viana UFC career and history
Previously, there has been a lot of talk regarding Polyana. However, it is less to do with her performances inside the Octagon and more to do with her relationship with Colby Covington. According to sources, Polayana and Covington have trained together in the past, but their relationship seemingly did not end there.
Speaking about his fight against Leon Edwards, Covington dropped a massive bombshell, inadvertently implicating Polyana. “I was b*lls deep in Polyana Viana, so get me off the couch in three weeks’ notice to fight some Leon Scott [Edwards] guy. You know, it was going to be a price tag. I wanted a little bit more than was in my contract”. Understandably, Colby’s statements sent the fans into a frenzy as they began wanting to know more.
However, the cosplay enthusiast did not take to Covington’s statements well and denied having anything to do with the former interim welterweight champ. With that said, Viana hit back at the rumors with a shot of her own. Unfortunately, things did not go to plan as it became a bit of troll with the MMA community and Paulo Costa getting involved.
As for her work inside the cage, Polyana is currently 4-4 in the UFC. With that said, Polyana did exceptionally well to beat Jinh Yu Frey within 45 seconds in November last year. With her record currently not too impressive, expect the Brazilian fighter to showcase a much better version of herself in the future.
