Eddie Alvarez needs no introduction to MMA fans. The former Bellator Lightweight World Championship and UFC Lightweight Championship can be considered a legend in the world of MMA and was recently seen in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC). Throughout his journey, there has been one constant fan who has supported her vocally and emotionally, his wife, Jamie Alvarez.
Eddie Alvarez and Jamie met in high school and got married in 2008 when Eddie was only 24 years old. Jamie has been ever-present for Eddie throughout his 20-year-long career. She has been an ideal wife for the former UFC Champion in his chaotic world of MMA. The couple has four children together: three sons and one daughter, who is also supported by Jamie when he is around the world for his MMA bouts.
Eddie has been vocal about Jamie and her contribution to his MMA journey. ‘The Underground King’ expressed his emotions about his wife in an interview with ONE Championship back in 2020. In the interview, he explained how Jamie Alvarez helped him achieve his dreams in MMA.

Eddie Alvarez stated during the interview: “She [Jamie] believed in me, and had faith in me and hope in me when no one else could even dream of it. If you saw where I grew up and what most people become from where I grew up, I’d get laughed off the streets if I told them my expectations and dreams for myself. My wife didn’t blink once. She always believed in me and has always been my biggest supporter“.
Apart from the constant love and emotional support, Jamie Alvarez has also shown his support for Eddie Alvarez vocally. Jamie has been ever-present in the audience for Eddie’s bouts in various promotions. Moreover, she has been found screaming at the top of her lungs during every fight.
Why does Jamie Alvarez keep on screaming during Eddie Alvarez fights?
The vocal support has been so strong that it has become a meme in the MMA community. There are numerous YouTube compilations of Jamie Alvarez screaming during fights to support her husband. The screaming was in focus again when Eddie Alvarez fought Chad Mendes in a bare-knuckle fight at BKFC 41 on April 29, 2023.
Fans and commentators addressed the support from Jamie, and there were numerous tweets about it on social media. The vocal support is unlike anything the fans have ever seen and was even addressed by Eddie Alvarez back in May 2023.

Talking on The MMA Hour, Eddie commented on the jokes around his wife: “Listen, that’s my f****** chick, and if anybody has anything to say, they can go f*** themselves. My wife’s been watching me fight — we met each other when we were 15 years old. We have four children together. I am her f****** guy”.
Eddie Alvarez went to reveal the reason behind the screams: “She can’t control what’s going on, and her yelling, her screaming, that’s how she feels. It’s genuine. So if you don’t like it, deal with it. But it’s f****** genuine”. All jokes and memes aside, any MMA athlete would love to have such constant and vocal support behind them. It’s more special considering it’s your life partner. Eddie should be considered lucky to have this vocal support.
