Floyd Mayweather has once again called for a rematch against ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor, this time assuring fans that it will happen in 2023.
Speaking to Daily Mail Mayweather said “I want to go out there this weekend and have fun. Then I have another exhibition in Dubai in November and me and Conor McGregor in 2023. We don’t know if it’s going to be an exhibition or a real fight but there’s been talks of both. I would prefer an exhibition. I am not into fights where I am going to any real punishment. So, guys like Conor McGregor and guys that don’t really hit hard such as YouTubers or UFC guys.”

Mayweather also compared McGregor’s punching power to YouTubers, saying ‘he doesn’t really hit hard’.
Him comparing McGregor’s power to YouTubers doesn’t make much sense as McGregor in his prime was known for his ferocious Left Hook that knocked many of his opponents out. McGregor though did respond to Floyd’s callout via an Instagram post, with the keyword being ‘Not Interested’.
Potential Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor II

Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor was one of the highest-grossing boxing matches of all time. In their first meeting in 2017, Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather stopped McGregor in the 10th round. McGregor though in that fight didn’t look overwhelmed by Floyd’s skill and power. According to some stats, McGregor landed a total of 111 significant shots over the entire fight, worth mentioning that Floyd is considered to be one of the greatest defensive boxers of all time. Post-fight, McGregor himself said that it was Floyd’s ‘composure’ that won him the fight.
Speaking about their recent activity, Mayweather was last seen inside the ring just few months ago, when he fought Don Moore in an exhibition bout in Dubai. While McGregor has been out of the fight game for more than a year due to a horrific leg break he suffered in his second fight against Dustin Poirier. During that time McGregor put out a lot of training videos where he was seen sharpening his boxing skills. It’s obvious that during this period McGregor devoted plenty of time boxing, since he wasn’t able to kick or grapple due to his injured leg.

A second fight between them does make a lot of sense, but McGregor doesn’t seem to be ‘interested’. Despite his recent reaction to the callout, McGregor has previously expressed his willingness to return to the sport saying Boxing is his ‘first love’. Chances may be slim, but you can’t rule out the possibility of the fight taking place somewhere in the future.
