UFC 265 goes down this weekend inside Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. UFC 265 will be headlined by Derrick Lewis and Ciryl Gane who will share the UFC Octagon for the interim heavyweight championship. Let’s preview this weekend’s fight card, and predict the winner of the fights.
UFC 265 main-card predictions
UFC 265 kicks off with an exciting match-up at the UFC’s bantamweight division between Song Yadong and Casey Kenney. It is an incredible fight between two proficient strikers, however, Casey Kenney has the striking advantage.
While Yadong is as tough as they come, Kenney is likely to get his hand raised this weekend via stoppage in the third round.
Tecia Torres takes on MMA veteran Angela Hill in yet another exciting match-up at UFC 265. Angela Hill has been in the UFC for a really long time and has time and again proved her credibility inside the Octagon. Both the fighters have shared the Octagon back at UFC 188, with Torres emerging victorious.
Looking at the momentum of both the fighters, it looks like Tecia Torres will repeat the feat this weekend as well and is expected to get her hand raised against Angela Hill this weekend via unanimous decision.
Michael Chiesa takes on Vicente Luque in what promises to be fireworks in the UFC’s welterweight division. While Chiesa has the grappling advantage, Luque is a vicious striker. It is an intriguing match-up, where the ability of one fighter to dictate the pace of the fight will prove to be the winning factor.
In that department, it looks like Vicente Luque has the advantage considering his great takedown defense, and his incredible knockout power. We are going with Vicente Luque via split decision at UFC 265.
In the co-main event of the evening, Pedro Munhoz takes on former featherweight champion Jose Aldo. Pedro Munhoz is definite to bring the heat on Jose Aldo and will likely try to knock the light out of the former featherweight champion to send a statement to the bantamweight division. However, it will be easier said than done, going against a seasoned fighter like Jose Aldo.
Looking at Aldo’s last performance, it’s clear he is not just looking to stand and trade, and will likely use his BJJ prowess to dominate. We are going with Jose Aldo via unanimous decision, considering he is able to dictate the pace of the fight, and not try to test that iron chin of Munhoz.
Derrick Lewis vs Ciryl Gane prediction
The Black Beast takes on Ciryl Gane for the UFC’s interim heavyweight championship. While the odds are in favor of Ciryl Gane, it will be a mistake to overlook Derrick Lewis and his monstrous power.

However, a case can be made that Ciryl Gane could prove to be too technical for Lewis. Gane’s last fight against Jairzinho Rozenstruik was a testimony of his patient striking, and his ability to manage the distance.
With a reach advantage, we could see the same kind of performance that Alexander Volkov put up against Derrick Lewis, however, Ciryl Gane won’t be reckless enough to get caught with Lewis; monstrous shots. We are going with a comfortable unanimous decision win for Ciryl Gane to become the UFC’s interim heavyweight champion of the world.
