After the knockout defeat against Dustin Poirier at UFC 257, The ongoing saga of Dustin Poirier vs Conor McGregor is going to reach its conclusion on July 10 as the two lightweights beasts will brawl in a trilogy bout at the main event of UFC 264.
Both the fighters have fought twice before. The two first met as featherweight contenders at UFC 178. McGregor was an absolute beast with his flamboyant character and had won 11 fights in a row. While Poirier was not a great fighter then. Notorious made good on his prediction of a first-round knockout and put Poirier down with a left hand less than two minutes in.
By their second fight, Poirier was a focused gym fanatic. He was confident he could beat any opponent. While Conor on the other hand was then stripped of both of his titles before being beaten by former lightweight king Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229. Conor was looking good in the first round. However, he couldn’t counter Diamond’s calf kicks and the damage caused by them which led to his TKO round 2 eventually.
