Israel Adesanya has done it again. Defied the odds and put on a clinic. And at this moment, it’s about how many times Israel Adesanya puts on such spectacle until he achieves the GOAT status.
For the Nigerian born champion, the UFC belt is just something that makes him look good. But, what matters the most to him is the name he destroys while he is on his way to become the greatest of all time.
If the goal is to become to GOAT then The Last Stylebender must beat the GOAT. There are many fighters who are in the conversation of being the greatest of all time. Georges St-Pierre might be the one winning the argument just because of the way he represented the sport and his achievements.
However, it’s pretty hard to ignore Jon Jones, who is the greatest to ever do it as per UFC president, Dana White, and many fans in the world.
If Israel Adesanya wants to get the GOAT status then he must beat Jon Jones. Israel Adesanya is cleaning up the middleweight division. But, Jon Jones has been doing just that since he became the youngest champion in UFC. He beat legends of this game over multiple generations and made the light heavyweight division look ineffective.
Israel Adesanya still wants the Jon Jones fight
After destroying Paulo Costa when Israel Adesanya was asked about a potential fight with Jon Jones, the middleweight champion stated:
“I just want to f**k up Jon Jones and I will still will. I just have to talk to Eugene. Cause he talked about Stipe Miocic and other things. Everything is open. Cheddar makes it better.”
Israel Adesanya and Jon Jones want to fight each other. But, it seems we have to wait for a little while for that fight. Adesanya has already said that he wants to fight Jones in 2021. But, he may have to move up to the heavyweight division.
It does not matter if this fight happens now or after one year, this will be the biggest fight in both Jones’ and Adesanya’s career. A lot will be on the line than just their illustrious legacies.
