Ronda Rousey is just an official confirmation away from making her way out of WWE. The news did not come in great terms for the fans but eventually, they had to prepare themselves to see Rousey walk out of Triple H Company. Following this, a WWE veteran took to Facebook to pen down a long yet heartfelt message for the former WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion.
Jotting down her achievements from her short yet impressive professional career run, Foley also revealed some inside stories in connection to Ronda Rousey. “Without Ronda, it’s highly unlikely WWE would have featured a women’s match as its main event at WrestleMania in 2019,” said Mick Foley. His statement went viral on ‘X’ and fans expressed their support for the WWE Hall of Famer.
Talking about Ronda Rousey, fans wrote, “Her popularity as a MMA fighter and actress allowed WWE to reach out to a new set of audience“. Mick Foley had spoken some facts and the audience could not help but shower their support saying, “He is right“. Many fans also acknowledged the fact that if not for Rousey, WWE wouldn’t have had a main event especially anytime soon.
However, there are some fans who believe Ronda was not special. “That errant punch from Nia Jax made Becky Lynch a star, she was gonna be the main event at WM35 no matter who she faced,” wrote one user. Another fan went ahead to bring up the practicality of the match and wrote, “The Diva’s era was a complete joke. They messed AJ Lee around when she could’ve been the breakout star“. Fans also went ahead to name Sasha Banks and Charlotte Flair as the top names who would certainly get a spot for the main event.
Ronda Rousey was first pinned by Becky Lynch
The Baddest Women on the Planet aka Ronda Rousey joined the Stamford-based promotion in 2018 as a surprise entrant at the Royal Rumble. Coming from UFC, she had a massive fandom on her back. Continuing her way of dominance, her first loss came at the 2019 WrestleMania.
Becky Lynch, Ronda Rousey, and Charlotte Flair met inside the ring at MetLife Stadium, New Jersey to walk out as the WWE RAW and SmackDown Women’s Champion. The match reached an unexpected finish when Becky pinned Ronda and became the first woman to do so.
While the match was full of action, it was not the plan that Becky pins Rousey. Ronda had pulled her shoulders off the ground before the referee counted three. With the controversial decision, Lynch eventually won the match and thus the titles.
