Through the 2025–2026 season, Giannis Antetokounmpo is under contract. He played for the Milwaukee Bucks in 2019–2020.
Thanasis spent some time moving around the G League with the Delaware 87ers and Westchester Knicks after being picked by the Knicks in the second round of the 2014 NBA Draft. He then signed a 10-day agreement with New York for the 2016 season, making his debut in the NBA with the team.
Thanasis Antetokounmpo joins his brother in Milwaukee once again
The 31-year-old forward returns to Milwaukee in NBA free agency after signing an agreement with the Bucks. Although he had several possibilities as a free agent, Antetokounmpo declined an offer from the New York Knicks, for whom he played in 2016, so he could play with his brother again.
After playing in 37 games and recording a career-low 43.5% field goal percentage the past season, Antetokounmpo joined Milwaukee for his fifth season. Over the previous four seasons, he has played in 162 games (11 starts) for the Bucks, at an average of roughly 8.4 minutes per game, 2.7 points, and 1.8 rebounds.
Due to his vigor and versatility in defense, the Bucks are allegedly keen on re-signing Thanasis. The Bucks cherish the fact that he is close to and confidant of Giannis as well. Thanasis is currently visiting his brother in Milwaukee for the second time. He first joined the Bucks in 2019, after spending several years playing abroad. In 2021, he contributed to the Bucks’ NBA championship triumph.
Before merging with his brother in Milwaukee before the 2019 season and earning a championship ring with the team in 2021, he took his skills abroad for a few years, playing in Spain and Greece with Andorra and Panathinaikos.
Thanasis Antetokounmpo is a skilled player who could contribute a number of contributions. He can score off the bench and is an effective rebounder and defender. He is a vital component for the Bucks.
