Nick Kyrgios is not having a pleasant stay on tour this season, as he has only played a single match. He has officially completed a decade on tour but cannot celebrate it on the court. Kyrgios played one match at the Stuttgart Open while losing to Yibing Wu in straight sets. He started the year ranked No.19 but soon will drop out of the top hundred by the end of this year.
Kyrgios has been suffering from injuries since the start of the 2023 season. He underwent surgery on his left knee in January and then suffered a wrist injury at Wimbledon. The Australian has pulled out of the Cincinnati Open and the US Open. Kyrgios has missed all four grand slams this season and was almost about to play at Wimbledon, but torn ligament in the wrist made matters worse.

Kyrgios made his debut at the grand slams in 2013 in the French Open. For the first time, he has not been featured in any of the majors in a season. He is currently ranked at No. 92 and will have a heavy workload from the start of the 2024 season. The Tennis star will miss the US Open for the first time since 2020. He has not confirmed his return but hopefully makes a comeback at home in the Australian Open.
Nick Kyrgios misses out on US Open milestone
Kyrgios has been a regular entry at the Australian and US Open since 2013. The 28-year-old had a chance to play at the US Open for the tenth time, but now that milestone will be achieved at the 2024 Australian Open. Kyrgios had completed two hundred victories on tour at last year’s US Open.
In the 2022 season, he reached the quarterfinals of the US Open for the first time. In the fourth round, Kyrgios beat defending champion and then world No.1, Daniil Medvedev. Kyrgios had never beaten a defending champion at a major before.
The 2022 Wimbledon finalist had recently talked about retirement. Kyrgios said he will only be on tour for a short time as he will turn thirty in two years. He has been the most successful Australian player in recent years. Kyrgios will have to be more consistent now; the 2024 season will be one of the crucial seasons of his career. The ranking downfall will affect his entry into the majors, and he will play more matches than usual to get the much-needed points.
