Polish tennis player Hubert Hurkacz found his name involved in a rather hilarious incident recently. Greta Gerwig’s Barbie movie was released in theaters last week, to much praise from moviegoers. Some eagle-eyed fans immediately spotted a connection between the movie and Hurkacz.
In the movie, Michael Cera plays the role of Allan, who happens to be one of Ken’s best friends. You must wonder, what has Allan got to do with Hurkacz?
Some fans think that the resemblance between Allan, played by Cera, and Hubert Hurkacz is uncanny. The tweet jokingly adds, “I worked so hard for the role, I left tennis tournaments after R1/R2 to prepare,” as if Hurkacz said it himself.

Even though this is a joke, it underscores Hubert’s string of disappointing performances. His latest appearance was at Wimbledon. He lost to Novak Djokovic in the Round of 16.
Tennis stars talk about the Barbie movie
Prior to the release of the Barbie movie, a few players were asked if they would watch the movie. These players were Andrey Rublev, Grigor Dimitrov, Ben Shelton, Taylor Fritz, and Felix Auger-Aliassime.
The question was met with mixed responses, and Shelton did not even know that the movie was coming out. “People are pretty excited about it, I’m not matching it,” said Fritz. “Maybe I’ll catch it on a plane,” he added.

Dimitrov appeared excited to watch it. “I think I might watch it, who knows?” said Dimitrov. “I am in a Barbie color right now!” he added excitedly. Felix Auger-Aliassime said, “I love Ryan Gosling so I’ll watch it when it comes out.”
Barbie fever has swept the world into a frenzy, and tennis is no exception. It is hilarious to see Hurkacz being compared to a movie character, and others have asked if they will watch it or not.
