- Maxence Broville has been handed a seven-year ban by the ITIA.
The tennis world has seen multiple players breach the sportsman’s conduct in the sport. The youngsters, in particular, have been prone to incidents that affect their careers. The latest player who has been involved in such activities is Maxence Broville. He has been banned by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) for seven years.
Broville has been a consistent contender on the ITF tour. He has been provisionally suspended since 20 June 2023, by ITIA and has been fined $5,000 for not cooperating during the investigation. He was reportedly involved in match-fixing during the 2017 and 2018 seasons. Broville also did not submit personal devices when asked by the officials.
Bon… Encore un nouveau français pris la main dans le sac pour du trucage de match…

The 25-year-old will not be able to play or attend events related to the sport until June 19, 2030. He has been charged under sections F.3.b.i.1 and F.3.b.i.4. The sections deal with being noncooperative with officials, and if not suspended, the integrity of the sport would be harmed since he has committed a major offense. Breville appealed against the suspension, but it was dismissed in September last year.
Maxence Broville and his performance on the ITF tour
Broville first played a professional match in 2016 in France. He defeated Andres Artunedo Martinavarro in the opening round and lost the next match to Romain Jouan. The Frenchman has since been playing in ITF events and challenger events. Broville has not played on the ATP tour or at the qualifiers for a Grand Slam. He will have to wait for his ban to end to hope for a debut on the ATP tour.
In the 2023 season, Broville achieved his highest ranking of No. 708 in June. He also reached the finals of an ITF event for the first time in April and went on to win the title in Tacarigua, Trinidad, and Tobago. Breville pocketed $2,160 along with 15 ranking points. He had won 17 matches in the 2023 season and was looking to record his best-ever performance before getting banned from the sport.

Breville made his doubles debut on the ITF tour in 2014 and reached the finals for the first time in 2017. His first and only ITF doubles title came in 2023 in Carnac, France, with Federico Agustin Gomez. It will be tough for Broville to be away from the sport for a long time, as he will be 31 when he resumes his career. The sport needs to bring in more awareness amongst the young stars in the game.
