Netflix is one of the biggest streaming giants in this day and age. They have a reputation for producing well-made documentaries. Given the popularity of tennis, naturally, Netflix decided to showcase the lives of players on and off the court. But not everyone is happy with it, Iga Swiatek being one of them.
The series ‘Break Point’ is a collaboration between Netflix and the governing bodies of tennis- ATP and WTA. It follows players as they make a break for greatness on the tennis court.
However, not everyone is satisfied with the show. World number one Iga Swiatek is one such player. She was featured in an episode that conspicuously revolved around her journey to lift the US Open title.
Swiatek also opened up about how the camera crew followed her around in 2022. But Swiatek added that she is disappointed with the episode because it left out some key aspects of her life. She said, “There was some stuff that I wanted to be included – for example, the exhibition in Krakow – but it wasn’t. So it was kind of sad for me.”
The Pole revealed that the crew was with her during her exhibition match in Krakow. Swiatek organized this match in an effort to raise funds for war-torn Ukraine. Elina Svitolina, a prominent Ukrainian player, was also in attendance.
However, all of the footage was left behind in the editing room. While Swiatek understands why Netflix did it, she is still disappointed. She would have loved it if it had made it into the episode as people who are not tennis fans, will also be watching.
It is a marvel in itself that a famously introverted player like Iga allowed cameras to follow her. However, they did not have full access to her life, as revealed by Swiatek herself.
Iga Swiatek held onto her privacy despite being followed by cameras
Iga Swiatek revealed that she was uncomfortable letting the crew into her home. She did, however, let them catch a glimpse of it in Krakow.
The top-ranked player said she did not want them in her house, shooting with her family a lot. “I wasn’t one of these players that agreed to everything,” said Swiatek (via Express UK).

Iga also rationalized that it is difficult to have a conversation with your family if there is a camera in your face. One of the possible reasons for this could be Iga’s introverted nature. The Pole guards her privacy very fiercely.
It seems that Swiatek has decided to sit out a second season. The crew has been spotted filming some of Iga’s colleagues like Paula Badosa, Ons Jabeur, and Maria Sakkari.
Swiatek is currently playing at the Cincinnati Open. She will hope to keep up her winning momentum, with the last Grand Slam of the year around the corner.
