Polish tennis player Iga Swiatek is in the news very often for her accomplishments on the tennis court. However, since she made her debut on Netflix’s Break Point, Iga has been making headlines for different reasons. This time, Swiatek addressed the issue of backlash that her psychologist received from fans.
One scene in particular, from Swiatek’s episode had made fans uncomfortable. In the scene, Iga can be seen getting a haircut. When asked what length she would prefer, her longtime psychologist Daria Abramowicz jumped in to answer for her. Iga could only respond with a blunt statement.
Since the episode aired, fans have felt that Iga had no say in such decisions. However, in her latest interview, Iga said that the scene has been taken out of context. She also clarified that her answer to Daria was supposed to be sarcastic, but it missed the mark.
Iga Swiatek speaks about her sports psychologist, Daria Abramowicz, receiving hate after Break Point haircut scene:

Swiatek explained that she used to cut her hair really short, until a few years ago. Daria was only reminding her of it because if it is not cut properly her hair can be chaotic.
She further added that she had no influence over Netflix’s editing choices. Iga has previously spoken about disliking the way Netflix edited her episode. She felt that they had left out an important aspect of her life from the documentary.
Aryna Sabalenka questions Iga Swiatek about her statements
Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka are fierce rivals on the tennis court. An aggressive player, Sabalenka also stars in the documentary alongside Swiatek. A couple of days ago Swiatek expressed her disappointment with Netflix. Iga’s reason was that they had not included her charity match for Ukraine in the documentary.
Following her quarterfinal match, Aryna was asked for her opinion on this issue. The world number two revealed that Netflix allowed players to review the episode before it aired. She failed to understand why Iga had not voiced her concerns then.
Loved being at @CincyTennis for a few days to shoot the @netflix Break Point Part 2 Reunion.
It’s tough to execute, but this type of player interaction makes for some really authentic, insightful content – and a lot of laughs. 😂

She added that they can also suggest edits, “You can make this adjustment like, I don’t like this, this. You can change this, that, or that,” (via Tennis Up To Date).
It is unclear if Iga really raised her concerns, and Netflix did not pay heed. The list of issues with Swiatek’s episode seems to be getting longer with each passing day.
Sabalenka will appear in the next season of the documentary, whereas it seems Swiatek will not return. Both players have made it to the semifinals of the ongoing Cincinnati Open.
