In the high-stakes universe of tennis, where showmanship often takes center stage, there exists a quiet achiever, Casper Ruud. Currently holding the world’s 4th spot in tennis rankings, Ruud’s accomplishments are extraordinary. He’s a three-time Grand Slam finalist, a ten-time ATP champion, and has ascended to the world’s number 2 spot. Yet, he remains somewhat overshadowed in the sport’s panorama.
In the recent past, Ruud has been inconsistent. Although he maintains his ranking points by making a comeback, he somehow manages to register a loss against a lower-ranked player.
Fans have started to see a pattern in his losses. His most recent loss came against Arthur Fils, currently ranked No. 71 in the world. Arthur bageled Ruud in the first set and only conceded four games in the next.
Casper Ruud on losing to lower ranked players:
“I just realized with the ranking I have now, most of the matches I lose will be against lower ranked players anyway… it’s no problem losing to lower ranked players at all. There are so many great players these days” pic.twitter.com/zfnKAI1MUp

Yes he does. He’s a match fixer.

Ruud’s approach to the game is as unique as his career trajectory. He doesn’t aim to mesmerize with flamboyant moves or awe-inspiring shots. Instead, he’s a staunch believer in the power of consistent performance and delivering robust results.
Ruud doesn’t seek the limelight or play the entertainer on the court. He remains true to his style, doing what he does best, unfazed by the hype surrounding others. He finds tranquility in the shadows, away from the weight of expectations.
Casper Ruud looking to improve his performance at the US Open
The Norwegian tennis prodigy has had his share of near victories in the Grand Slam finals. He faced defeat against Rafael Nadal in the 2022 French Open final and later against Carlos Alcaraz in the 2022 US Open final. This year, he was again in the French Open finals, only to be outmatched by Novak Djokovic. But Ruud is not one to be deterred by setbacks. He focuses on his ultimate goals – clinching a Slam victory and ascending to the world No. 1 spot.
At Wimbledon, Ruud lost to Liam Broady in the second round in a five-setter match. Even at the Australian Open, Ruud lost to Jenson Brooksby in the second round in four sets. In the next three events, Ruud could not win two consecutive matches.
On clay, the 24-year-old has considerably better performances. On hard courts, he has not been able to deliver the same range of performances. After his below-par performance in the first five months of the season, he reached the finals of the French Open while losing to Novak Djokovic. Based on Ruud’s current form, he will likely perform well at the US Open.
