SUMMARY
- Iga Swiatek is one of the best players around, with an aggressive baseline style of play.
- She revealed the key aspects of her game she wants to improve.
Iga Swiatek is one of the most dominant players on the tour at the moment. She is a proactive player and is always striving to bring her best to each match she plays. This means that Swiatek puts in a lot of work to improve certain aspects of her game, and the results speak for themselves.
Iga is an aggressive baseline player with an arsenal of shots under her belt. The Pole is a powerful hitter on both flanks too. However, as good a player she is, there is also room for improvement, and Swiatek knows it too.
Recently, Swiatek was spotted working on her serve during the pre-season. This raised a lot of expectations, and to top it off, Swiatek has been playing remarkably well too.
It is not just her serve that Iga has been working on, though. She likes to hang back on the baseline and rarely goes up to the net to make use of volleys or drop shots. Iga, who is currently playing in the United Cup, revealed that she has been trying a few new things to become a complete player.
“I played two volleys in today and also one drive volley. That’s something that wasn’t so often before. This is something that we worked on, you know, me going forward a little bit and not always staying on the baseline,” she said (via Tennis-Infinity).
Iga Swiatek has been in blistering form of late and has picked up from where she left off last season. She is enjoying an excellent run, as she stormed into the United Cup final with Poland. Moreover, Iga has managed to extend her winning streak again.
Iga Swiatek enjoying her second-longest winning streak
The Pole has been decimating her opponents of late. Swiatek turned her career around after a bit of a lull since winning the French Open in 2023. She won a number of titles and capped off 2023 as the world number one for the second consecutive year. In doing so, Swiatek has extended her winning streak to 16 matches.
Iga defeated Caroline Garcia to send Poland into the finals of the United Cup. She then took on Angelique Kerber and defeated her 6-3, 6-0. Swiatek has now broken her previous second-best streak of 14 wins between Roland-Garros and Wimbledon in 2023.

The French Open champion also holds the record for the longest winning streak since 1997. This is Swiatek’s undefeated run of 37 matches between Doha and Wimbledon in 2022. Swiatek’s current streak began in Beijing and continued through to the WTA Finals. She even reached a very special milestone recently.
So far at the United Cup, Iga Swiatek has won all five of her singles matches. Swiatek will hope to continue her dominant run when the Australian Open rolls around next.
