Felix Auger-Aliassime is one of the best Canadian tennis players around. Despite still being fairly young, Felix has already left his mark on the courts and in fans’ hearts.
Felix started competing at a very young age and played several ATP Challenger tours, winning a few of them along the way. Auger-Aliassime rose through the ranks quickly in his career and achieved his best ranking of No. 6 in November 2022.
Felix holds the record for being the youngest player to win a main-draw match at the ATP Challengers. He was only 14 years and 11 months old at the time. By the time he turned 16, he had already won a title. Auger-Aliassime won the US Open boys’ single title in 2016.
Felix has managed to replicate that success on the ATP Tour, with five titles under his belt. The Canadian star won three of them in 2022 alone. Due to his prolific success, Felix won the 2022 Canadian Press Athlete of the Year too.
Felix has played in several editions of the Davis Cup. He helped Canada make it to the finals for the first time in 2019, but they tasted defeat at the hands of Spain. However, Auger-Aliassime played a decisive role in leading Canada to victory in 2022. He won all his singles matches, and Canada defeated Australia 2-0 in the finals, winning the trophy for the first time.

Felix has also done incomparable work off the courts. He launched a special project with the help of BNP Paribas in 2020 called #FAAPointsforChange. The main idea behind it was to promote education and protect children in La Kara, Togo, where his father hails from. He recently won the Arthur Ashe Humanitarian Award for his work in Togo.
Felix Auger-Aliassime ethnicity
Felix was born on August 8, 2000, to Sam Aliassime and Marie Auger in Montreal, Canada. Sam Aliassime is of African descent since he was born in Togo. His mother, Marie, is of French-Canadian descent and is a teacher. Felix uses both his parents’ last names as a way to honor his ancestry.
Felix’s father is a tennis coach and shaped his son’s playing style, helping him become the player he is today. Sam moved to Canada from Togo and got married to Marie. It was Sam’s choice to get Felix and his sister, Malika, to grow up playing various sports.
Felix was under his father’s tutelage until he was 13 years old. He moved on to train under more professional coaches and tasted success. Currently, Auger-Aliassime has Toni Nadal, the uncle of Rafael Nadal, as one of his mentors.
Marie also played an important role in ensuring that her son grew up to be the person he is today. She is often spotted cheering him on from the box whenever he plays.
Felix Auger-Aliassime has established himself as one of the players to watch out for on the circuit. While 2023 was a disappointing season for him, he will hope to turn it around next year.
