Ever since the COVID movement restrictions and the bio-bubble restrictions have been eased up there has been an increase in the number of cases, especially in sporting events. The same is the case with the ongoing Wimbledon.
There has been a lack of measures and precautions being held on the behalf of the tournament organisers, which has led to a lot of players being tested positive for COVID.
This year’s Wimbledon is not being held behind closed doors and spectators have been allowed inside the court which only increases contact and the chance of transmission between the players and the audiences.
Among all of these, Roberto Bautista Agut became the third top player to withdraw from the Wimbledon after he tested positive for COVID.
Hoy he notificado a @Wimbledon mi baja. He dado positivo en Covid-19. Afortunadamente, los síntomas no son muy graves, pero creo que es la mejor decisión. Gracias por vuestro apoyo. Espero volver pronto.

Bautista, who is a former semi-finalist was all set to face Galan on Court 3 if he had not withdrawn from the second-round match. However, Roberto released a statement on social media wherein he informed his intentions of backing out of the tournament.
He said that he had notified the organisers of Wimbledon that he is withdrawing from the tournament. He further added by saying that he was not feeling very well and got himself tested for COVID-19 after that. Even though his symptoms are not very severe this would be the best decision for him.
