One of the major reasons why Jose could manage this record was that he was a defensive-minded coach who set out the best tactics according to the players that he had managed in the past. Let us take a deeper look at this monstrous record held by Jose over 4 clubs, FC Porto, Chelsea FC, Inter Milan, and Real Madrid:
FC Porto (2002-2004):
Jose Mourinho joined Porto in 2002, and since then he has begun to receive notice on a global scale. From 2002 until 2004, Mourinho was a Porto manager, winning two Portuguese Championships and one Champions League.

With an incredible 76.98% success rate in 126 games at Porto, Mourinho’s success rate reached a new peak. Not only that, he remained undefeated at home throughout the whole tenure of two years he was at FC Porto.
Chelsea FC (2004-2007):
He moved to Chelsea in 2004, where he enjoyed even more success, winning championships such as the Premier League in the years 2004–2005 and 2006–2007. That’s where he earned the title of “The Special One”—in England.

Inter Milan CF (2007-2010):
Following a fruitful tenure with the Blues, Mourinho left for Italy. He executed his work and ideas at Inter Milan with mastery, winning the Champions League in 2009–2010 as well as the Serie A in 2008–2009 and 2009–2010.

He was one of the best managers to grace the sport by winning in 3 different leagues and majorly being unbeaten at their home ground for all the 3 clubs he managed during this period.
Real Madrid CF (2011-2013):
He joined Real Madrid the next season, in 2011, and stayed there until 2013, winning La Liga in the 2012–13 campaign. In addition, he managed to stay unbeaten over four different teams, setting a ridiculous record of 150 home league games without a loss during nine exhausting years of soccer play.

However, the record was broken while managing Real Madrid in his final season against Sporting Gijon. Sporting’s midfielder Miguel Angel de las Cuevas scored the only goal that led to Madrid’s 1-0 loss at the Santiago Bernabeu. This was also the end of the 150 home league games streak which is one of the craziest records held by a manager in soccer history.
