Jose Mourinho spent most of his career in England’s top-flight soccer called the Premier League. He has managed three of the league’s top six English clubs, including Manchester United, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur.
However, the Portuguese manager was sacked by Tottenham’s hierarchy which included the club’s Chairman Daniel Levy just a few days before they were about to play in the League (Carabao) Cup Final in 2021. The decision came as a surprise to the club’s fans.

More so the fact that Spurs had not won a major trophy in about 13 years leading up to the final match. That was their golden chance to win one under Mourinho, particularly the club in a decent vein of form. Jose Mourinho reflected on his sacking from the London-based club recently.
“Tottenham was a club that has an empty trophy room and then sacks me two days before a final. I mean, come on…”, the manager reportedly stated. However, as far as the reason behind his sudden sacking at Tottenham Hotspur is concerned, it has been termed by the reports that it had something to do with the club’s speculated participation in the European Super League.
Mourinho didn’t want the team to endorse the European Super League. However, the Spurs hierarchy wanted to do so. It was this disagreement that resulted in him falling out of favor with the team’s board of directors. It was put that way, to avoid any further trouble, the club’s management decided to show their manager the exit gate.

After he departed from the Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur, the 60-year-old manager was very calculated in expressing his thoughts. He stated – “I am in the maturity of my career and also my life where I don’t have bad feelings”.
The former Spurs boss further inflicted – “I just try to accept the things the way they are. Yes. Yes it hurt”. The Portuguese veteran also stated that he didn’t possess any “regrets” or “bad feelings” towards any individuals in the club’s hierarchy including Daniel Levy, the Spurs’ Chairman.
The three-time Premier League-winning manager currently manages AS Roma in the Seria A. He is widely appreciated among Tottenham fans for the work he did at the club during his reign there. However, the experienced manager had his bad days with the club. But the fans would know that no manager can escape those types of spells.
