The moment that every soccer fan expected is finally here. While there was a sense of inevitability, there were no official reports on Lionel Messi and his future in Paris. There has been a lot of speculation about Messi leaving PSG after the ongoing 2022-23 season. It is now official as the Paris Saint-Germain manager Christophe Galtier has confirmed that the upcoming game against Clermont Foot is going to be his last for the club.

After spending all his career at Barcelona, Messi joined PSG with a lot of fanfare. With 4 Champion Leagues and one of the most decorated careers ever, Messi came to Paris with the PSG trying to end their UCL drought. However, In his two seasons in the PSG jersey, Messi has scored a total of 32 goals and registered 35 assists in 74 games.

While Messi has helped the team secure two successive Ligue 1 titles, he has been unsuccessful in bringing the team any glory in Europe. Both in the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons, PSG failed to reach even the Quarter Finals. Hence, PSG fans have been quite unhappy with the Argentine superstar. But their unrest is set to end as Messi is preparing to leave the club immediately after PSG’s final match of the season.

Talking about it, Christophe Galtier added, “I had the privilege of coaching the best player in the history of football… This will be his last match at the Parc des Princes and I hope that he will receive the warmest of welcomes.” (h/t via BBC)

Where will Lionel Messi go after leaving PSG?

Lionel Messi will have no shortage of suitors after his PSG chapter had an unfortunate end. In December 2022, after winning the FIFA World Cup tournament, Messi seemingly had a verbal agreement with PSG to extend his contract. But, in recent times, the soccer club has been in turmoil with the future of the manager seemingly up in the air.

AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho is seemingly the next in line to take charge of the club. On top of that, Messi’s friend and ex-Barcelona teammate Neymar is also reportedly on the move with Manchester United being one of the clubs interested.  So the question remains, where will Lionel Messi go from PSG? The most financially lucrative deal remains the proposal from Al-Hilal.

The proposal from the Saudi Arabian club is reportedly worth $400 million according to journalist Fabrizio Romano. However, there are also reports that Barcelona wants Lionel Messi back at the club. Messi was recently seen attending a Coldplay concert in Barcelona. Fans, recognizing their favorite star, started chanting his name.

However, Inter Miami is also another club that has made a ploy to sign him. Miami has reportedly offered Messi a 35% stake in their club, which is reportedly worth $200 million. So Messi’s future remains undecided at this point in time. However, no matter where he goes, Messi’s next move will surely break the internet.
