Lionel Messi recently won the MLS Leagues Cup for Inter Miami after defeating Nashville on penalties. This victory catapults Messi to top the list of Soccer players with the most titles overtaking Dani Alves. The trophy won is the first one in the history of the Miami-based club since its foundation.
The match ended 1-1 with Messi scoring the first goal of the final before converting the penalty, which helped his new club secure their first-ever trophy since under owner David Beckham.

The little magician has won four Champions Leagues, ten La Liga championships, two Ligue 1 championships, seven Copa Del Reys, eight Supercopa de Espana, one Trophee des Champions, three Club World Cups, and three UEFA Super Cups which he won in the club level with Barcelona and PSG.
With Argentina, Messi has the accolades of winning the Under-20 World Cup along with several titles, including Copa America, Finalissima, Olympic gold medal, and the FIFA World Cup Final.
In only his 7th appearance and one month after coming to the US, Messi won the 44th trophy of his career. It is fair to say that Messi won’t be stopping his trophies at 44. The Argentine Captain is only 36 and has more time to win more trophies before the next World Cup. The first trophy added to this illustrious list is the La Liga. Messi won La Liga when he was only 17 years old in the 2004-05 season.
Lionel Messi was named the player of the tournament in the recent cup triumph and lifted the trophy alongside former captain DeAndre Yedlin after the Argentine offered to take the captain armband from him.
More to come or will 44 be the limit for Lionel Messi?
With Inter Miami at the bottom of the Eastern Conference, it remains to be seen whether Messi can drag this team into the playoffs. With a goal or assist in every single game so far in the US, this won’t be a tough task for the Argentine.
Winning the MLS will further boost Messi’s lead at the top. Most of the players on the list with the most accolades won have retired while Messi’s long-time rival Cristiano Ronaldo has a tally of 35 trophies. Inter Miami is also in the semi-finals of the US Open Cup. Fans would love to see their marquee signing lead them in that competition as well.

It’s safe to assume that Miami wasn’t at the top of likely destinations when he left PSG at the end of last season. But to everyone’s surprise, players like Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba have also moved to the club. Some fans said that this was a wise decision from Messi as the next world cup would take place in the US. Fans around the world are hopeful that they might be able to see their idol for one more World Cup.
With Messi still playing like he is in his prime, it is taken for granted that he would feature in the upcoming Copa America. With so many trophies on the line for the talented star, it will be hard to catch the 7-time Balon D’or winner, especially with the trophies tally with Dani Alves ( 2nd on the list) out of the playing field. Most likely, Messi will be remembered as the most decorated player of all time.
