- Klopp lost his wedding band, but a cameraman spotted it in the field.
After Liverpool’s victory over Newcastle United at Anfield, manager Jurgen Klopp was overjoyed, but his happiness was short-lived when he momentarily misplaced his wedding ring during raucous post-match festivities. He also recollected a similar incident in his past and opened up in the post-match interview about it.
Jurgen said on the incident, “I lost it once and I needed a professional diver because I lost it in the sea. From time to time [it happens] when I lose one or two kilos. I was too lively and I lost it and I had a massive shock. The cameraman annoyed me quite a few times this season but now he has a lot of shots free because that was really important.”

The event occurred after Liverpool defeated Newcastle United 4-2 despite a superb effort from goalkeeper Martin Dúbravka, who made 10 saves. After the victory, Klopp’s squad led the Premier League by three points. Liverpool have been playing extremely well and are on a good run in the EPL season.
When Klopp misplaced his wedding band, it took a TV cameraman’s keen vision to find the jewelry in the field. In response, the relieved German manager gave the ring a public kiss in front of the cameras. It was kind of a passionate gesture by the Liverpool boss.
Jurgen Klopp revealed a key role his wife played in his managerial career at Liverpool FC
According to Jurgen Klopp, Ulla Sandrock, his wife, played a significant role in his decision to sign a two-year contract extension with Liverpool, extending his stay at the team until 2026. The German coach had shown interest in taking a vacation from the sport earlier in 2022, but Liverpool signed fresh contracts with him and his coaching staff.
“I’ll stay for another two years, and not only me. All my coaches will as well, which is the most important actually,” Klopp said in a video shared on Liverpool’s Twitter account. “Why? Because Ulla wants to stay and, as a good husband, what are you doing when your wife wants to stay? You are staying,” he added.
Liverpool CEO Billy Hogan on Jurgen Klopp:
“We couldn’t be happier. He had made it clear that he probably wouldn’t renew. But then he and his wife Ulla talked about it and decided to stay for two more years.” #lfc [bild] pic.twitter.com/ia8bWmH56p

Liverpool have been playing brilliantly this 2023-24 season and are in 1st place in the English Premier League. Not only that, they have also bridged a 3-point gap between them and 2nd place Arsenal FC after a win against Newcastle FC on January 1st. Liverpool’s soccer star, Mohammad Salah has been playing at another level in this 2023-24 season.
It remains to be seen how Liverpool perform once Salah is off to the AFCON to represent his nation Egypt in the competition. Without their main player, Liverpool will have to be at their flying best if they are to avoid any slip-ups in the battle for the title.
