Shakira has been one of the biggest names in Latin music for more than 18 years. The Colombian singer was honored for her contribution by her hometown with a bronze statue, but the fans on the internet had different ideas.
The statue was created by Artist Yino Márques and as per reports, it channels the dance move from the singer’s music video from the 2005 hit song, Hips Don’t Lie. The 21-foot statute was proudly shared by the singer on her Instagram, showcasing the statue in its full glory. While the facial expression and the stance do resemble the Colombian singer, there is one big problem with the bronze figure, the feet.
The fans of the singer noticed that the feet of the statue were ugly and did not match up to the rest of the beauty of the bronze statue. While others were focusing on the rest of the beautiful statue, few fans commented their opinion on the feet of the structure.

Comments like: “That statue has some strong ankles,” “Why does she look like as if she is Shrek’s sister,” “Maybe the hips don’t lie but the feet do,” “I think they hired Pique as a sculptor for this,” “Payed for by the taxes she refused to pay,” and “Holy feet,” echoed the sentiments of the fans.
The inscription on the base of the statue read: “A heart that composes, hips that do not lie, an unmatched talent, a voice that moves masses and bare feet that march for the good of childhood and humanity.”
Shakira commented on her statue on Instagram by stating that it makes her happy to share this with her parents especially her mother on her birthday. The singer visited the statue with her parents, brother, and the Mayor of Barranquilla. She concluded by dedicating this honor to the women of Colombia and her hometown.
