However, a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) went viral claiming Luis Suarez’s “Phone call” celebration against his former club Barcelona was a dig towards ex-Barca manager Ronald Koeman. However, the claims made by the post are completely false as this was not the case.
It remains to be seen whether or not Luis reacts to this news, although soccer players at times tend to ignore such news and pay as much less attention as possible to them. On the contrary, Luis has been enjoying life at his new soccer club, Inter Miami.
Luis Suarez reveals the real reason behind his celebration
When Luis Suarez scored at the Wanda Metropolitano against his old team, Barcelona, he gestured like he was making a phone call. The celebration by the Uruguayan is believed to have been intended towards Barca manager Ronald Koeman, who was seated in the state box because of his ban. Atletico Madrid defeated their La Liga opponents 2-0 with Suarez and Thomas Lemar are two of the scorers.

However, Luis denied claims that his “phone call” celebration was directed towards Koeman. He said, “(The celebration) was for the people who know I have the same number, so they know I’m still on my phone, It was something I had agreed on with my kids. It was not for Koeman, not at all.”
Koeman gave the 34-year-old a one-minute talk about leaving Barca in 2022, which led to his dismissal, according to Spanish news site SPORT. According to the story, neither the Dutch coach nor the former Liverpool striker went into any details throughout the phone discussion.
