SUMMARY
- Bayern Munich suffers another set-back in their hunt for a manager.
- Former Manchester United boss turns down the German club for personal reasons.
FC Bayern Munich has been dealt a huge blow in their ongoing search for a new manager for the next season. It has been a difficult season for the German giants who finally conceded the Bundesliga title this season after winning it for the last 11 seasons. While they have reached the UCL semifinals, domestically, it has been a dismal performance from Bayern.
Thomas Tuchel, who assumed the role of Bayern Munich‘s head coach last year, is all set for an exit after the end of this season. Despite Tuchel leading his side to the semifinals of the UCL, it won’t be enough for the German manager to continue at the club. Moreover, club CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen has also claimed that even if Tuchel wins the Champions League, he will leave the club at the end of this season.
🚨🔴 Bayern CEO Dreesen confirms Tuchel will not stay: “We would all be happy together winning the UCL and then we go separate ways”.

With Tuchel’s departure imminent, it was reported that former Manchester United head coach and current Austria national team manager Ralf Rangnick has been chosen by Bayern Munich to be the club’s new manager. While there were rumors that his move to Bayern was all but confirmed, Rangnick has shockingly turned down the job offer.

As reported by the Italian soccer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Ralf Rangnick won’t be joining Bayern Munich and will continue to be in charge of the Austrian national team. This decision will disrupt the Bavarian club’s preparations for the upcoming season. Currently, there hasn’t been any official comment from the Bayern Munich camp yet.
Ralf Rangnick issues a statement after rejecting Bayern Munich’s proposal
Ralf Rangnick has finally issued a statement after rumors emerged of him coming close to accepting Bayern Munich’s proposal to become the club’s new head coach. Rangnick, who’s considered to be a big name in German soccer and is said to have inspired several current German managers, made his intention clear of wanting to continue at the Austrian national team.

Rangnick said, “I’m the Austrian team coach with all my heart. This is not a rejection of Bayern, but rather a decision for my team and our common goals.” The 65-year-old coach further added that he identifies himself as the leader of the Austrian national team, and is completely focused on the upcoming Euro 2024. Rangnick’s current contract with the national team expires in July 2026 after the conclusion of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Bayern Munich’s hunt for a new manager continues after Ralf Rangnick’s rejection
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich’s hunt for a new manager doesn’t seem to be coming to an end soon after Ralf Rangnick refused to join the club. In the last few weeks, several names of high-profile coaches have been linked with the 33-time Bundesliga winners. A few weeks ago, French soccer icon and ex-Real Madrid head coach was linked to become Bayern Munich’s next head coach.
Bayern Munich legend Uli Hoeness:
“My wife said: If Xabi Alonso has character, he won’t come, and if he doesn’t have character and says yes, then he’s not the right coach for you. And as always, she was right. Alonso told us: ‘We have done our masterpiece, many players came here… pic.twitter.com/ExB4e3HE4j

The names of veteran soccer coach Jose Mourinho and current Brighton head coach Roberto De Zerbi have also been mentioned. Both Mourinho and Zidane are currently free agents and have been linked to several clubs. Former Bayern star Xabi Alonso, who has incredibly led Bayer Leverkusen to their first-ever Bundesliga title this season, was also linked with a return to Munich but instead, he chose to stay at his current club.
Lastly, there have also been talks about Bayern Munich turning to their former manager, Hansi Flick, who won seven titles with the club, including two league titles and a Champions League title. Flick, who has remained a free agent since last year, was heavily linked with a move to FC Barcelona previously this year. However, after Xavi Hernandez chose to stay at Barcelona, Flick might be a solid option for Bayern.
