it’s not a rivalry…

Rivalry between Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova over the years
Serena Williams, an American tennis player who is now retired, was mostly unopposed during her incredible career by one of her alleged “rivals.” Her track record is remarkable. Serena Williams completely ruled the WTA Tour during a time when other notable players included Maria Sharapova and her older sister, Venus Williams. There were several factors that contributed to Serena’s dominance in head-to-head matches against the Russian star. The legendary Russian tennis player, however, thinks that her powerful build and strong, self-assured mentality were key factors in her success.
In her autobiography, “Unstoppable: My Life So Far,” Maria Sharapova recalled her gold medal match against Serena at the 2012 London Olympics, saying, “First of all, her physical presence is much stronger and bigger than you think watching TV.” She is so intimidating and powerful, with muscular arms and legs. Additionally, she is quite tall.”

“It’s the entire thing,” continued Sharapova, “her presence, her confidence, and her personality.” In Miami, she seemed a lot older than I was. I was sixteen or seventeen at the time. She was the best player in the world, a mature woman with experience. It still has that impression. She still has the ability to make me look like a small girl.
Maria said that the pressure to execute your strategy perfectly is always present when you play a famous player who is already well-known in the tennis community. The way Sharapova characterized Serena Williams’ appearance in her book, Serena Williams wasn’t really pleased. Serena, a 23-time Grand Slam champion, has always thought that her success is the result of her hard work, but when Sharapova lowered it to her physical advantage, Serena wasn’t at all pleased.
Serena continued her shot at Sharapova by claiming that she has never used drugs to give herself an unfair advantage. Whereas, Sharapova was given a 15-month suspension after a positive drug test.
