Rena Marlette Lesnar, better known by her stage name Sable, is an American former model, actress, and retired professional wrestler and the wife of Brock Lesnar. Her primary claim to fame was her tenure in WWF, which began in 1996. Gaining considerable popularity during the Attitude Era, she cemented her place as Sable.
She originally tied the knot with Marc Mero, regularly appearing alongside him during his matches. However, the marriage ended in divorce in 2004, and later that year, Sable and Brock Lesnar got engaged.
Sable feuded with Luna Vachon and Jacqueline, eventually becoming the second WWF Women’s Champion once the company reinstated the title. She left the company and filed a $110 million lawsuit against it, alleging s*xual harassment and unsafe working conditions.
She made her comeback to WWE in 2003, where the creative team pitted her in a feud with Torrie Wilson, and crafted another storyline featuring her as Vince McMahon’s mistress. In 2004, she decided to leave the company to dedicate more time to her family.
Outside the wrestling ring, people perceive Sable as a sex symbol. She has graced the cover of Playboy three times, with the April 1999 issue, showcasing her on the cover, becoming one of the highest-selling issues in the magazine’s history. Apart from wrestling, she guest-starred on several television series, including Pacific Blue, and marked her presence in the film Corky Romano.
Why is her name prohibited?
In 1999, Sable departed WWE and launched a lawsuit against the company, alleging sexual harassment and perilous working conditions. The dispute saw resolution outside court, which paved the way for Sable’s second term as a WWE superstar in 2003. (Via Thesportster)
Torrie Wilson disclosed that WWE holds a dislike for referencing Sable on its product and explicitly stated, “You are not even permitted to mention her name.”
“In her Hall of Fame speech, she uttered Sable’s name and got cautioned just prior, “Oh, by the way, you’re not allowed to mention her name.”
No one knows for certain why WWE forbids Sable’s mention. The lawsuit and allegations from the past are likely the reason behind it, although it appears that they have been put to rest.
Alternatively, it might be because WWE officials likely want to dissuade younger fans from googling her name after hearing it on Raw. Some of the search results probably aren’t age-appropriate.
