UFC featherweight fighter, Bill Algeo just had his 7th bout inside the Octagon against TJ Brown. He was 3-3 in the Octagon heading into the bout and the 33-year-old needed a win. Algeo did get the win and he got it in style. The Pennsylvania native submitted Brown at the 1:40 minute mark of the second round. Although he managed to get the 4th win of his UFC career, Algeo’s post-fight speech has attracted a lot of eyeballs.

In the 6th fight of the night, Ed Herman took on Zak Cummings in a light heavyweight bout on the prelims. Cummings won the bout via knockout against Herman in the third round. After the bout, both Ed and Zak decided to hang up their gloves and put an end to their respective careers. While it was a genuinely sad moment to see the two fighters retire, Bill Algeo made fun of the incident in the post-fight interview.
During his interview with Daniel Cormier, Bill added, “First things first… everything’s going well, I got a beautiful wife, I got a beautiful baby boy at home. So I want to make this official announcement that I’m not retiring baby… Listen I would never retire in a dump like Kansas City alright? I looked around here and all I see is a bunch of Croc-wearing, Ubereats-driving, Bud-light drinking…sons of guns. I ain’t never retiring.”
It is certainly an interesting promo and DC pointed it out afterward as well. After the recent WWE-UFC merger, it looks like the fighters are taking cues from the WWE wrestlers and their mic skills. It is also a call back to the infamous Colby Covington promo on Brazilian soil at UFC Fight Night: Sao Paolo in 2017.
Bill Algeo slams Bud Light after the recent Joe Rogan controversy
Bill Algeo named a lot of brands in his promo and Bud Light was one of them. If fans are not aware, Bud Light has been a topic of controversy in recent times. The beer company lost almost $5 billion after the transgender model Dylan Mulvaney endorsed the alcoholic beverage. Although there was a severe backlash against Dylan’s sponsorship of the brand, Joe Rogan surprisingly had a contrary stance.
During a recent episode of his podcast, “The Joe Rogan Experience,” Joe revealed that he did not have any problem with the partnership. He said, “Here’s my take… What they’re doing is just spreading the brand to an extra group of people. Why, if something is good, do you give a f-ck who’s got it?” (h/t via New York Post)
Not only that, but Joe also took a sip of the Bud Light beer during the episode. While it is unclear if Bill Algeo’s comment was a jab at Joe Rogan or not, one can interpret Bill mentioning the brand as a hint at the controversy.
