In a bizarre occurrence at UFC Vegas 89, Igor Severino bit Andre Lima and got disqualified from the fight. Severino vs. Lima was the second fight of the night on the preliminary card and both fighters were undefeated in their pro-MMA careers. The bout was supposed to be an exciting one. However, the end took everyone by surprise.
In the second round of the fight, Severino bit the inside of Lima’s left bicep. A prominent bite mark was left on Lima’s arm as he informed referee Chris Tognoni about the incident. The officials reviewed the play and it resulted in the disqualification of Severino. This was the first time a UFC fighter was disqualified for biting an opponent.

The Mike Tyson-esque action has proved to be costly for Igor Severino. It has been reported since the biting incident that Severino will be fired from the UFC.
UFC CEO Dana White set to cut Igor Severino from the UFC roster for biting Andre Lima
Both Igor Severino and Andre Lima are Brazilian fighters who were making their UFC debuts. Both fighters were also 8-0 in their pro-MMA careers before making their UFC debuts. After so many similarities, the fighters have now gone two completely separate ways following UFC Vegas 89.

Immediately after the fight, it was announced that Igor Severino would be cut from the UFC. As per a text message from Dana White received by KevinIole.com, “Those were two up-and-coming undefeated fighters,” White said.
“If you get frustrated and want out of the fight, there are plenty of ways to do it, but the worst thing u can do is bite your opponent. Now, you get cut and lose the biggest opportunity of your life. Not to mention, he’s going to have real problems with the NSAC,” he added.
On the other hand, Lima was on the receiving end of a bonus from White. That bonus was further doubled after Lima’s witty response to being bit.

Andre Lima’s manager was informed after the fight that Lima would receive an “I got f*cking bit” bonus – A first in the UFC. The bonus amount was supposed to be $25,000.
Soon after leaving the UFC Apex, Lima went and got the bite mark tattooed. He darkened the bite mark and around it got “I got f*cking bit bonus” written in ink.

Dana White took to his Instagram Story and uploaded a picture of the tattoo. The UFC chief further informed that he would be doubling the bonus amount to $50,000.
Lima earned a debut victory in the UFC flyweight division. The undefeated Brazilian now boasts a 9-0 record with a bright future in the promotion.
