Alexander Volkanovski reacted to the fights that went down at UFC 299 on Sunday. UFC 299 took place on March 9, 2024, in the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida. The fight card was stacked with some top fighters, old and new.
One of the old vs. new fights was between Dustin Poirier and Benoit Saint-Denis. Poirier, a former interim lightweight champion, has been at the UFC since 2011. Saint-Denis, on the other hand, made his UFC debut in October 2021. Poirier took a fight against the Frenchman in a bid to give the new but exciting fighter a chance to fight the top-ranked fighter but also give himself a boost and see if he’s still got it.

Alexander Volkanovski, in his prediction video, claimed Poirier will win the fight via KO. The former UFC Featherweight Champion was spot on with his prediction.
After a first round where Poirier was a bit more defensive than expected because Saint-Denis came out stronger off the blocks, the second round changed the fighters’ fortunes. Poirier struck strongly with a right hand which left BSD on the floor defeated. Poirier was all-praise for his opponent after the fight.

In a video shared by MMA Frenzy on X, while watching the climax of the co-main event, Volkanovski is heard saying, “I said TKO. There it is. I said TKO. I called it, man.”
Further, Volkanovski analyzed the fight and claimed BSD’s loss was always coming. “That was always going to happen. Like credits to the bloke for sticking to his guns and just going for it but against an experienced guy for at least five rounds? As soon as I seen him go I thought man, this ain’t lasting long.”
Poirier is a seasoned fighter and Volk thought BSD’s tactics going into the fight were not correct. According to the Aussie, the Frenchman needed to take a more cautious approach.
Alexander Volkanovski got all his winners’ predictions correct for UFC 299
Alexander Volkanovski was on point with all his UFC 299 main card predictions when it came to predicting the winner. He had a 40% success rate when predicting the mode of victory.
In the bantamweight fight between former champion Petr Yan and Song Yadong, Volk predicted a Yan win via decision. That is exactly what happened. Yan won via a unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, and 29-28).
Next, in the welterweight bout between Gilbert Burns and Jack Della Maddalena, Volk predicted a win for his Aussie counterpart via decision. Maddalena won that bout via a devastating knee and punches KO instead.
In the next welterweight bout, Volk predicted a win for the debutant Michael ‘Venom’ Page over Kevin Holland via KO. Page, however, won the fight via decision.
Alexander Volkanovski’s co-main prediction was 100% correct. His main event prediction was a win for Sean O’Malley against Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera via KO. O’Malley successfully defended his title via unanimous decision (50-45, 50-45, and 50-44) instead.
