Roman Reigns has been reigning as the WWE Undisputed Universal Champion for over 3 years now. Due to the way he’s handled, it’s obvious that Roman is considered among the biggest stars in the Triple H-led promotion, but Big E has recently revealed something interesting about the megastar.
This happened during a recent interview with Cincy360, as The New Day star shared details about WWE’s initial plans for The Shield. He disclosed that he was originally supposed to play Roman Reigns’ character in the trio as Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose’s teammate.
Big E reveals that he was originally considered to be in The Shield:

Talking further about the results of the changed plans, Big E shared that he thinks it worked out great for both him and Reigns. But fans have been taking digs at the former WWE Champion, and trolling him about possibly being in Roman’s spot as the big dude of the trio.

Looking at the kind of response this revelation by the former WWE Champion has received, it’s safe to say that fans are relieved that the original plans weren’t implemented. On the other hand, a part of the audience has been wondering how the things would have been if Big E worked in Roman’s spot in The Shield.
Big E was once the reason for the frustration of Roman Reigns’ former teammate
Even though Big E was in the original plans of The Shield, he wasn’t able to get in Roman’s place. Moreover, he once became the reason behind the frustration of Roman Reigns’ former teammate from the iconic group. It was none other than Seth Rollins who once got frustrated because of Big E.
This happened back in early 2022, as The Visionary was reportedly planned to target the then WWE Champion Big E. But as the original plans were scrapped, the former Universal Champion wasn’t happy with the creative team and got frustrated.
Rollins shared this during a conversation with Jimmy Traina on SI Media. In the interview, Seth opened up about getting frustrated due to the continuous changes in the plans. It was reported that the plans were changed only after Big E lost his title to Brock Lesnar in January 2022.
Despite The Visionary‘s frustration, these changes did wonders for Rollins, as the lack of opponents for WrestleMania 38 turned into an entertaining storyline. At the end of this saga, Seth got to fight a returning Cody Rhodes on The Grandest Stage of Them All. Thus, it can be said that Big E’s title loss was probably a good thing for Reigns’ former teammate.
