WWE aired its recent episode of SmackDown in front of a packed crowd, and the entire show was filled with some great storyline progressions. The show also had a title change, but what attracted fans’ attention was the ending of the episode, as Jey Uso walked out of the promotion.
This was really unexpected, as everyone felt that the Stamford-based promotion would give us a full-fledged feud between The Usos after Jimmy‘s betrayal of Jey at SummerSlam. However, with Jey Uso walking out of the company, it seems that the rivalry has been put on hold.
While a rivalry between The Usos seems like a feud for the future, fans have been speculating that Jey’s walkout is a sign of the company’s plans for a potential storyline between Jimmy Uso and Roman Reigns. The promotion can actually go with this feud for the time Jey is away and potentially book a match between them for WWE Payback.
If the Triple-H-led promotion decides to go ahead with a feud between Roman and Jimmy and book a match at Payback. The match will obviously be the main event of the show due to The Tribal Chief’s star power and the importance of the entire storyline. WWE Payback will take place on September 2 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and it is expected to be another spectacular event under the creative leadership of Triple H.
Till now, no match has been announced for the show, but the company will surely build up the required storylines in the upcoming weeks. If Jimmy Uso vs. Roman Reigns gets booked for WWE Payback in the build-up for the event, it’ll surely increase the buzz around the event and guarantee some exciting storytelling.
Jimmy Uso didn’t want his brother to become another Roman Reigns
Jey Uso getting betrayed by his own brother, Jimmy, during the Tribal Combat was an absolute shock for the WWE universe. Just like each and every fan of the Stamford-based promotion, Jey also wanted answers for it, and the reason behind the betrayal was revealed in the most recent episode of SmackDown.
This happened on SmackDown‘s August 11 episode, when Roman Reigns and Jimmy Uso were in the ring talking about the latter’s actions at SummerSlam. It was during this segment that Jey made an appearance and demanded answers from Jimmy for costing him the Undisputed title at SummerSlam.

Answering Jey’s question, Jimmy revealed that he didn’t want his brother to become another Roman Reigns. He added that becoming the ‘Tribal Chief’ could corrupt him, as it did to their cousin, Roman. Jimmy’s explanation also claimed that his actions during the Tribal Combat match were done out of love for his brother. Jey was offered an amendment by his twin brother, but he didn’t agree to it.
In the final moments of the segment, Jey Uso was able to take out Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa. After this, Mr. Main event also hit his twin brother with a superkick. He ended the segment by announcing that he is leaving The Bloodline, SmackDown, and the WWE. It remains to be seen whether this will just be a short storyline exit for Jey or if he’ll remain away from the promotion for an extended time period.
