NBA fans might be surprised to hear that Shaquille O’Neal is on the verge of trying his hand at directing. As we all know, O’Neal has proven to be a man of many talents after the end of his NBA career. Not only is he the sportscaster for “Inside the NBA”, but he is also the host of a podcast and tried his hand at a plethora of ventures.
Although some are already aware that Shaq has tried his hand at acting and even being a DJ, it is yet to become public knowledge that O’Neal plans to try his hand at directing. He revealed so on the latest episode of his podcast. Let us take a look at what Shaq is planning to direct and how it could potentially turn out.
Shaquille O’Neal is directing and producing an advertisement for the first time ever
While the NBA legend has carved out quite a career for himself as a player and even an actor, directing or producing is something that he did not have the opportunity to do up until this point. However, he was finally given the chance and decided to put his mind to the task in order to make his directorial debut a success.
To those who are wondering, Shaq revealed that this advertisement would revolve around the early years of his life as a child and even feature his mother Lucille O’Neal. In fact, he even shared that it was necessary for him to make changes to his appearance in order for the commercial to work well, as he has done in the past.
Thankfully, there was no drastic change to O’Neal. All he had to do was lose his facial hair and look clean-shaven to play his part in the advertisement. This new look on him prompted the other hosts of the podcast to compliment him and ask him more about his upcoming directorial debut.
“Thank you I appreciate that…I’m producing a commercial. My first directorial debut, my mother and me back in the day. So we use a bunch of little kids and of course, they’re going to use the technology to put my face on it.”
Unfortunately, O’Neal didn’t really get into more details about what he would be advertising and his challenges as a first-time director. In any case, we wish him all the best and hope that this project ends up being a success for him.
