SUMMARY
- Jerry West has been on the NBA logo for several decades.
- Stephen Jackson wants LeBron James on the NBA logo instead of West.
A former NBA player generated quite a lot of attention from the basketball community by suggesting that LeBron James should replace Jerry West as the logo for the NBA. As many NBA fans might be aware, the league has a logo of its own, and West has been the player on it over the past several decades.
As the years have gone on, LeBron James has become increasingly recognized and respected by fans and players alike. Many have already declared him to be the GOAT of basketball. After all, King James has broken several NBA records and shows no signs of slowing down despite being 39 years old.
Stephen Jackson opines that LeBron James does ‘everything’ right
To those who do now know, Stephen Jackson is a former NBA star who played in the league from 2001 to 2014. Throughout his career, Jackson averaged 15.1 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists. He was best known for his time with the Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs.
Although Jackson has never spoken too highly of LeBron James, he made some flattering statements towards the King during a podcast session alongside Dwight Howard.
“LeBron… He should be on the logo. I don’t think we’ve seen anybody better all around. If you talking about basketball, people tell kids today, yeah Michael Jordan is the best but If I had to tell you to look at one player, go look at LeBron James..Everybody’s telling their kid that because he does everything right on and off the court…You can’t miss with LeBron.”

While most fans might be able to agree that LeBron is one of the best all-around players in league history, Jackson’s opinion that James should be on the logo is one that is yet to be accepted.
Adam Silver has no immediate plans to change the NBA logo
Jerry West played in the NBA from 1961 to 1974 and is the player on the current NBA logo. NBA commissioner Adam Silver was once asked if there was any intention to replace West with another NBA star and his response was quite interesting.
“I appreciate all the ideas and discussion around the NBA logo, but we have no plans to change it right now,” he told cleveland.com. “I of course will never say never about anything regarding the NBA.”
