NBA fans might be interested to hear that LeBron James and Michael Jordan have been given quite a lot of respect by NBA 2K24. As many of us might be aware, NBA 2K is a popular video game franchise and recently released the latest version of their game called NBA 2K24. Since this is the 25th-anniversary edition, NBA 2K24 has garnered quite a lot of attention from the basketball community.
One of the most important features in the game that players and fans alike take into consideration is the OVR given to NBA players. To those who do not know, OVR stands for overall ratings and is a culmination of several individual statistics such as defense, three-point shooting, and dunking ability.
Although NBA 2K has built up a reputation for being strict in terms of awarding ratings to players, it has decided to do something special for its vintage versions of LeBron James and Michael Jordan. Since this certainly has the potential to confuse NBA fans, let us take a closer look and find out more.
NBA 2K24 has given LeBron James and Michael Jordan a 99 OVR
Fans who have already purchased the game, which was released on September 8, will know that Nikola Jokic was given the highest OVR out of all the stars in the league with a 98. This makes sense considering that he is the reigning defending Finals MVP. He is followed by Giannis Antetokounmpo and LeBron James. Both NBA stars were given a 96 OVR.
Gamers will know that NBA 2K24 also allows fans to play with previous versions of players. This is the only way to make retired NBA stars such as Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant a part of the game. NBA fans were quite pleased to find out that the two GOATS of basketball were given a 99 OVR.

The 2016 LeBron James as well as the 1993 and 1996 Michael Jordan have both been given a 99 OVR. That makes them the highest-rated players in NBA 2K24. Veteran fans will remember that MJ won his third NBA championship in the 1993 NBA Finals. Following a two-year hiatus, he returned for the 1996 NBA Finals and defeated the Seattle Supersonics.
On the other hand, many fans will remember the 3-1 comeback that LeBron James managed to pull of against the Golden State Warriors in the 2016 NBA Finals. By doing so, he cemented his legacy as the only team to have come back from 3-1 to win an NBA championship.
There is no denying that LeBron was at his peak, or very close to it, in 2016. The same can be said for Jordan in 1993 and 1996 respectively. Therefore, it makes sense that NBA 2K24 decided to give those versions of them a 99 OVR.
