SUMMARY
- Jamal Murray threw a heat pack on the floor during the Nuggets vs Timberwolves Game 2.
- The league is expected to investigate the issue ahead of Game 3.
It wasn’t a good Game 2 for Jamal Murray, who showed a lot of frustration on the floor against the Minnesota Timberwolves. After having a significantly better series in round one, the point guard has been struggling against the Wolves. During the first half of the game, Murray was caught throwing a heat pack onto the floor towards the direction of referee Marc Davis.

Fans couldn’t help but slam the 2023 NBA Champion for putting other players including his teammates in danger. One fan said, “Wild stuff from Jamal Murray. that could get a player hurt. Sheesh.” Another fan added, “Jamal Murray absolutely deserves a suspension. Clown behavior tonight.” Murray did a fairly good job in rebounding but struggled to put up shots finishing with 8 points and 13 rebounds along with 2 assists, 2 steals, and a block.
The league will look into Jamal Murray’s actions ahead of Game 3
This wasn’t the only instance that had fan slam Jamal Murray during Game 2. After the 27-year-old concluded his rant with the referees, he gestured the money sign with his hands toward the officials. For those who don’t know, Rudy Gobert of the Wolves was fined $100,000 after making the same mistake two months earlier. This could get the Nuggets star in deep trouble ahead of Game 3.

NBA reporter Dave McMenamin gave a small update on Murray’s case via X saying that the league will look into this between Games 2 and 3. Murray was the star of the Nuggets vs LA Lakers series hitting two game-winners, one during the Game 5 elimination round. Murray wasn’t his best in the series opener nor did he have an impact in Game 2 either. The Wolves secured their second win going 2-0 before heading back home for Games 3 and 4.
The Denver Nuggets are frustrated and it isn’t a good sign
Putting aside Nikola Jokic and Aaron Gordon, the two players carrying the Nuggets this series, Jamal Murray’s presence on the floor would be extremely important. The Nuggets haven’t lost consecutive games since the 2021 NBA Playoffs, and with the Wolves gaining home-court advantage, it is going to be even more pressurizing for the defending champions.
If Anthony Edwards and the Wolves manage to go 3-0, no team in the history of the league has ever come back from a deficit like that. What’s even more surprising is that the Wolves managed to achieve a 26-point blowout without Gobert, who was at home for the birth of his child. Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns combined for 54 points while their bench players dominated.
