NFL legend Tom Brady found himself in an amusing situation when Hollywood actor Matt Damon revealed his deep obsession with the football superstar. The revelation came during an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live in 2018, where Brady made a guest appearance.
During the show, host Jimmy Kimmel decided to test Brady’s arm strength by challenging him to throw a football through a random house window. And the house happened to belong to none other than Damon himself. As Brady completed the task, Damon burst out of the front door, initially eager to confront Kimmel but quickly transitioning into a star-struck fan when he saw Brady.
Damon couldn’t contain his excitement and promptly asked for a photo with the legendary quarterback. But Kimmel mischievously threw Damon’s phone through another window. After that, Damon brought out one big and one small Brady doll. And he accepted that he sleeps between the two Brady dolls which was funny and embarrassing to hear.
“Say hello to big Tom and little Tom… Tommy, I sleep in the middle… it’s like a body pillow… it’s good for your back,” Matt Damon said.
Although the entire scenario was undoubtedly staged, it provided a rare glimpse of Brady and Damon’s lighthearted sides. And the incident left fans speculating whether Damon was a Tom Brady fan in real life or not.
Is Matt Damon a huge Tom Brady fan in real life?
It turned out that not just for reality shows, Matt Damon is a big fan of Tom Brady in real life as well. In a surprising revelation during the 2020 NFL season, Damon confessed to being an ardent supporter of the legendary quarterback. Despite being a Patriots fan, Damon accepted that he faithfully tuned in to every Buccaneers game just for Tom Brady.
“It’s not even a bandwagon. I love Tom. He’s a once-in-a-lifetime athlete for all of us who were lucky enough to be able to follow. His entire career, I’m riding it all the way to the end,” Damon said on The Bill Simmons Podcast.
He even said that if he had to choose between Bill Belichick and Tom Brady, he’d choose the latter. “Everyone does the ‘Was it Belichick or was it Brady?’ Belichick’s an amazing coach, but I never doubted that it wasn’t Brady.” Moreover, Damon shared that he occasionally talks to Brady, sending him text messages. And he further called Brady a “relentlessly positive guy.”
