Professional wrestling icon John Cena has finally made a brief return to WWE TV since taking up the role of a part-time performer. The Cenation Leader returned on SmackDown’s September 1 show and also did a spectacular job as the host of the Triple H-led promotion’s recently held PLE, Payback.
As previously announced by WWE, the veteran performer will now make seven consecutive appearances on Friday Night SmackDown. To start the same, Cena will make his return to the blue brand on the September 15 episode by making a special appearance on the 2-hour show.
Recently, it has been confirmed that the 16-time WWE Champion will appear on The Grayson Waller Effect this week, but a top female superstar doesn’t feel this is the best decision. The female star is none other than Bayley, as she expressed her disapproval of John’s return to Grayson Waller’s show.

The Stamford-based promotion took to X to announce that The Cenation Leader will be doing on the upcoming episode of Friday’s show. Sharing a tweet to show her disagreement, the former Women’s Champion wrote, “I personally think the DING DONG HELLO SHOW would’ve been much better for the 🐐.” (Via: X)
Looking at how the former Doctor of Huganomics shared her opinion on Cena‘s return to Grayson’s show, it seems like she isn’t really impressed with the decision. Whatever she might be thinking, it’s obvious that John Cena will now be involved in a conversation with the Australian youngster on SmackDown.
Will Grayson Waller take his revenge on John Cena on SmackDown?
The Triple H-led promotion may have announced Cena’s return to The Grayson Waller Effect as a mere segment, but many believe that things could get tense. The Australian-born star has some recent history with Grayson, and he could be aiming to take revenge on John on the upcoming episode of WWE SmackDown.
It must be remembered that the issues between John and Waller started at the Money in the Bank premium live event in July 2023. As Cena made a surprise return in front of an epic London crowd in the O2 arena, he was interrupted by the 33-year-old performer.
After exchanging some heated words, the youngster tried to take out The Cenation Leader by attacking him from behind. But Cena was able to make a comeback and give an memorable Attitude Adjustment to Grayson Waller, thus making a strong statement.
As the Australia-based pro wrestler faced humiliation at the hands of the legendary performer at MITB, he could be desperate to take his revenge on John. It’ll be interesting to see if Waller can fulfil this desire by taking out the 16-time WWE Champion on Friday’s SmackDown show.
