The recent episode of Friday Night SmackDown was much awaited by WWE fans all across the globe. Jey Uso’s sudden exit from the Stamford-based promotion has jeopardized The Bloodline storyline. Thus the fans had one main thing to look forward to and it was the potential final match of Edge.
The recent episode of Friday Night SmackDown celebrated the 25th anniversary of Edge inside the squared circle. On the massive milestone, he squared off against Sheamus and defeated him with his iconic spears. However, the fans wanted more. As soon as SmackDown went off the air, The Rated R Superstar addressed the audience.

“What I can say is that this is my last one in front of y’all. I don’t think I can make it another full run to get here again for a match,” he said. The 49-year-old star was honest enough to judge his capability to perform in the ring and following this, took his decision. He further went ahead to thank his home audience for giving him an unforgettable experience.
Recently, in an interview with ET Canada, Edge revealed that his current contract with WWE has come to an end with today’s SmackDown. Last year, he expressed his desire to retire in Toronto, in front of his home crowd. However, his retirement seemed quite bleak in front of his glorious pro wrestling career. This indicates that this is not the end of his professional wrestling career.
Will Edge join AEW following his WWE exit?
The Rated-R Superstar may have bid goodbye to the Toronto audience but not to the pro wrestling industry. This hints at a massive plan Edge may have in mind regarding his career. The WWE Hall of Famer took wrestling to a new fan base along with his former tag team partner Christian Cage.

Fans awaited the duo to reunite for one last time before either of them took their retirement. Cage is a part of Tony Khan-led promotion, AEW which is the only stage left for them to reunite. The sight is a dream for all the members of the wrestling association including the stars themselves.
Dax Harwood, an FTR member, once named the duo as their opponent wishlist. “The Edge & Christian thing. I’ll just say that that’s more of a possibility than people think,” said Dax Harwood. A report from Yardbreaker also suggests that Edge has been in talks with Tony Khan since 2019. All these pointers make Edge’s AEW debut quite probable.
