Joe Flacco had a marvelous and unforeseeable revival season. He devastated the New York Jets, as he led the Cleveland Browns to a stunning victory with a score of 37-20. The 38-year-old unleashed his unbound potential. He burned the league’s second-ranked passing defense with 309 yards and an excellent interception on 19-29 passing.
Joe Flacco has put on a stunning show since he joined hands with Cleveland in November after Deshaun Watson’s injury. He did it solely, as Amari Cooper missed the match due to a heel injury. As compensation for Cooper’s absence, Flacco intelligently planned to put in a heavy dosage of tight-end Njoku. They had the highest-scoring first half since 2019.
Across the league, there has been a carnage of quarterbacks; no team could do justice to the former Super Bowl MVP until Cleveland gave him the opportunity. This includes the New York Jets, for whom he played from 2020-2022. The Jets are in desperate need of a QB after Aaron Rodgers’ injury. The Jets also had a very poorly prepared game with sloppy penalties and questionable game management.

The Jets had always spoken highly of Flacco in comparison with their other QB, Zach Wilson. It is indeed true that Flacco has a good grasp of offense.
“Joe’s awesome,” Jets coach Robert Saleh said this week. “Obviously, you know that we all love and appreciate Joe“. He further added that Joe’s presence on the team has mostly benefited them but also had minor drawbacks. They never had any serious considerations or commitments made to the player. Hence, eventually, they parted ways, and the Jets must regret their decision now.
Joe Flacco’s comments on joining the Browns
Joe Flacco said that despite showing interest in continuing the association, the Jets rolled with Trevor Siemian. Even though Joe has quite a lot of fans in the Jets’ locker room, he was not under serious consideration. He said that he was not bothered at all about not getting called by the Jets.
The former NFL star Roger Griffin was one of the many who condemned this decision by the Jets. He took to his ‘X’ handle and said, “Jets fans are living a NIGHTMARE. Watching the QB they could have signed after Aaron Rodger’s injury BALL OUT and lead the Browns to the playoffs. And Joe Flacco wanted to sign with the Jets before the Browns ever came calling“.

On being asked about his response to the Jets rejecting him, Joe said, “No, not really, The only reason they crossed my mind is because people ask me, ‘Hey, are the Jets going to call you?” The decision to not pursue Joe is now being scrutinized thoroughly after the Jets lost miserably against the Browns. Saleh said that they cut out Joe as a result of various OTAs and training camps.
To Saleh’s comment, Joe replied, “I enjoyed my time while I was there and it is what it is. I’m happy to be where I am, that’s for sure. Listen, there’s 32 teams in the NFL”. Joe has never fired the Jets openly and relishes the good moments that he shared with his teammates at the New York Jets.
Joe’s performance against the Jets will serve as an emulation, just like his performance with the Baltimore Ravens for the Super Bowl Game in 2012. Flacco had led to an opening for a touchdown for the Browns and easily emerged victorious. It was a record-breaking match; no wonder it was his first game against the Jets after he left the team.
After the game, “I’m just so fortunate to be on this team,” Flacco told Garafolo regarding his current four-game streak of performances with 300-plus passing yards. Joe further added, “We have a bunch of guys hurt and we’re still a really talented group.” Cleveland owes a note of gratitude to Flacco for his almost impeccable performance. Such an irony it is that the 38-year-old was wanted by no one, and now the scenario is that no team wants to face him.
