After securing a dominating win in his fight, Lewis immediately took off his shorts and recreated the DX celebration. He then jumped on top of the octagon cage and launched his athletic cup as well as his gloves into the crowd. Derrick Lewis knocks out Rogerio de Lima with a flying knee at UFC 291
Derrick Lewis’ UFC 291 win was iconic in more ways than one, as the UFC veteran won the fight after humiliating his opponent in the very first round. Lewis hit Marcos Rogerio de Lima with a flying knee in the early moments of their fight.
After the flying knee, Lewis followed his opponent to the floor and started punching in rapid-fire succession, which never gave Marcos the opportunity to come back. He continued punishing his opponent until he got to the point of not attempting an escape. After this point, the referee stopped the action, and Lewis secured a spectacular 33-second knockout win.
Derrick’s UFC 291 win has helped him surpass Matt “The Immortal” Brown for the most knockouts in UFC history. Brown has 13 KO wins in the UFC, whereas with his win over Marcos Rogerio at UFC 291, Derrick now has 14 knockouts in his UFC career. However, this might be the end of Lewis’in the UFC, as “The Black Beast” announced himself as a free agent shortly after his win.
There is a possibility that “The Black Beast” may leave the company after UFC 291, but it’s pretty likely that the UFC will come forward with an attractive offer to keep the UFC veteran in their promotion. However, it solely depends on Derrick Lewis whether he accepts the UFC’s contract offer or not. It remains to be seen what the future holds for the UFC veteran!
