Top lightweight contender Bobby ‘King‘ Green registered a big upset by knocking out Grant Dawson in just 33 seconds inside the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, on October 7. This happened in the main event clash of UFC Vegas 80 this weekend, where most of the fans were expecting Dawson to emerge as the winner.
After the fight, however, Green wanted to bring his dogs inside the octagon, but that request was rejected by UFC legend Daniel Cormier, who was conducting the post-fight interview. While it was understandable for DC to take this step, fans loved Green’s gesture, as they felt it was truly heartwarming to see the fighter wanting to celebrate his win with his dogs.

In the octagonal interview with DC, Green expressed that he wants to be the most active UFC fighter and aims to fight next, this December. He further added that he does not believe in calling out fighters and is willing to take on any fighter the promotion plans to match him up against.
Green has really been very active in 2023, as this was his third fight of the year, and he already has plans to fight in a couple of months.
Bobby Green knocks out Grant Dawson in 33 seconds
Bobby Green did the unexpected at UFC Fight Night 229 by getting the better of Dawson, who was undefeated in the UFC before this fight. Dawson was leading the early advances and appeared to be preparing a powerful knockout blow.
However, Green unexpectedly caught Dawson with a straight left hand and knocked him down. Although it wasn’t a particularly strong blow, Dawson was halted in his tracks by the precisely placed punch. Before the referee backed “King’ off, he charged in with some vigorous ground and pound strikes. There is not much more to write about what really happened, as it just took Green 33 seconds in total to complete the task.

Bobby Green, 37, has enjoyed his time inside the octagon lately as he defeated UFC legend Tony Ferguson by submission in his previous fight at UFC 291. He would be eyeing the lightweight rankings even at this part of his career, as he has already revealed his plans to fight more frequently.
For Dawson, it was rather unfortunate, as this loss ended his dominant streak in the world’s biggest MMA promotion. He last fought Damir Ismagulov in June, whom he defeated by a unanimous decision. Before that, he secured submission victories against top lightweight contenders Mark O. Madsen and Jared Gordon.
