Conor McGregor is arguably one of the biggest athletes, not just in MMA but in sports in general. Ahead of his return, many have discussed what they can expect to see from him. As such, Joe Rogan once again delved into the topic of the Irishman and his use of PEDs.
Previously, Joe Rogan has discussed Conor McGregor’s steroid use during his recovery. Although the UFC fighter has hit out at the accusations and Rogan in particular, there is no denying his usage at this point. Thus, with his return imminent, Rogan invited Derek from ‘More Plates More Dates‘ to share some insight on the matter.
For the most part, Joe and Derek agree that despite stepping into USADA’s testing pool, McGregor will still retain some of his gains. Derek, who is somewhat of an expert in steroids and PEDs, revealed that Conor will likely benefit from his use, even after months of being clean. “So for him (Conor), if you cleared out something that took 50 days to get out, he would still have residual benefit for months thereafter for sure”.
Further, the YouTuber added, “Whatever tissue you’ve accumulated will slowly go over the next months which you’d probably retain I would say half, maybe 25-50%…”. Whilst it is difficult to gauge the exact amount, whatever substances McGregor used will certainly benefit him, likely until the time he is set to fight next.
Conor McGregor underwent a massive change after using PEDs
To recap, Conor McGregor suffered a brutal leg break in 2021. During his trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier, Conor attempted a few leg kicks before breaking his left leg, near the shin area. It was a horrifying injury, to say the least, and the Irishman took a lot of time to recover from it. Notably, many could slowly notice a sudden change in his physicality.
In 2022 and midway through 2023, McGregor seemingly doubled in size and was nearly unrecognizable. Although the Irishman had bloated up in size, he still cut an imposing and muscular figure. At one point, he was reportedly walking around the light heavyweight limit, all whilst being in shape. Despite vehemently attacking those that he accused him of using, it was clear to see that Conor was ‘on the juice’.
As such, Joe and Derek also took a trip down memory lane to the time when ‘The Notorious One‘ would fight at featherweight. Then, comparing that to his lightweight self and then to 2022-2023, it was remarkable to see the bulk up and physical change in McGregor. Some fans have even joked that Conor looked as though he had eaten his old self.
Now, after much delay and drama, McGregor has stepped into the USADA testing pool. Although the end of USADA’s contract with the UFC is near, the 35-year-old still decided to complete the formalities. Amid rumors that the UFC was trying to make an exception for him, Conor has done his part in trying to convince the fans of his innocence. With a fight against Michael Chandler set for 2024, many will be eagerly awaiting to see what Conor will look like when he returns.
