The No. 12 seeded Golden State Warriors trailed behind in an overtime game vs. the Atlanta Hawks at the State Farm Arena on February 3, 2024. The Warriors have established a 4-6 record in the last ten games and are now riding a 134-141 loss vs. the Hawks. Furthermore, the team has now slumped to a 21-25 record in the league.
Although star guard Stephen Curry tried to keep the team afloat with an enormous 60-point score, the team couldn’t amass a win. On top of that, the night doesn’t seem to be any easier for the team, as their star forward Andrew Wiggins has succumbed to an injury. While Clint Capela of the Hawks was trying to score a defensive rebound late in the second quarter, a collision with the Warriors forward took place.
Andrew Wiggins was icing his foot postgame. Light limp. No walking boot or crutches in sight. He said he thought it wasn’t too bad but would have better feeling in the morning. https://t.co/mL4z6g2fkQ

Wiggins left the hardwood limping and in excruciating pain. The Warriors then changed the lineup, and he didn’t return even in the second half of the game. Anthony Slater of The Athletic floated a tweet about head coach Steve Kerr’s views on the injury scare. According to Kerr, it’s a ‘sprained foot’ and the X-rays are negative.
Wiggins was then spotted by the media with both feet in a bucket of ice. Although the star forward was slightly limping, the absence of any boots or crutches might be a good sign for the already trailing roster. Well, fans have some queer reactions to this injury update, it seems. Fans bombarded the tweet with reactions like, “The season is over” and “We are cooked.”
It’s a fact that ‘Playoff Wiggs’ has already gotten enough criticism about his bad gameplay this season. However, the player hasn’t missed many games this season because of injuries.
Andrew Wiggins has missed only 2 games this season
The Warriors have benched veterans like Gary Payton II and Chris Paul of late and are experimenting with different lineups with the young players. Although young players like Jonathan Kuminga and Brandin Podziemski are giving it their all to keep the team afloat, the fading dynasty now seems like a reality. On top of that, ‘Two-way Wiggins’ could bag only 2 points and 4 rebounds in his 19 minutes on the court.
The Bay Area team has played 44 games this season, and Wiggins has missed just two of these games. Although the 28-year-old hooper had to miss 22 games in the last season, his record this season seems worse than the last one.
The 6-foot-7 forward is riding on an average of 12.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.6 assists, with 44.1 shooting from the deep. Apart from Chris Paul’s left-hand fracture and Moses Moody’s left-calf strain, the Warriors might have to rest the player for a couple of games now. Well, that’s not the first injury that Wiggins has encountered this season.
Andrew Wiggins faced an absurd injury earlier this season
The Warriors were ready to host James Harden and the Los Angeles Clippers on November 30, 2023, at the Chase Center. Although Wiggins wasn’t listed on the injury report earlier that day, the name found its place on the list by noon. It was because Andrew injured his index finger while he was slamming the car’s door that morning.
Steve Kerr says that Andrew Wiggins slammed his index finger in a car door this morning. Kerr said watching Wiggins at shootaround, he figured the forward would miss this game. The feeling is that it will be a short-term injury.

He was then ruled out that morning as ESPN’s Kendra Andrews informed the league about the same. What’s astonishing is that the star player even missed the next game on December 2, 2023, as he needed his own sweet time to heal.
