With the Los Angeles Lakers’ season having come to an end recently, Dwight Howard continues to make his interest in returning to the Lakers clear and public. To the younger and newer NBA fans, Howard is a former NBA star and one of the best centers in league history. While he began his career with the Orlando Magic, Howard was on several teams before his career came to a somewhat early end.
Although Dwight is still playing overseas and is far from retiring, he was not offered a contract by any team in the league after the 2021-2022 NBA season. As Dwight made his desire to play for the Lakers abundantly clear, he used a new style of coaxing in order to get the NBA world’s attention. That said, fans might want to know more on the subject.
Dwight Howard sent a lyrical message to the Los Angeles Lakers
In order to allow his message to gain momentum, Howard was spotted singing a song in a desperate attempt to convince the Los Angeles Lakers to bring him back. Since Dwight last played for the Lakers and helped the team win an NBA championship in 2020, his chances of rejoining them are higher when compared to playing for any other team in the league.
The viral video began with a woman claiming that she was going to hand her phone to the only person who could save the Lakers. Dwight Howard then appeared and said, “Lakers gimme a shot man. One more chance.” He then sang a small note, “Jeanie give me one more chance.”

Since Jeanie Buss is the majority owner of the Los Angeles Lakers, she certainly has the most power in the organization and could bring Howard back if she wishes to do so. Considering that the Lakers were defeated once again by the Denver Nuggets, one could argue that the team could undoubtedly use Howard in the near future.
Will Dwight Howard be a good addition to the Lakers now?
During his championship season with the Lakers in 2020, Howard averaged 7.5 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. While those numbers may not sound too impressive, it is important to note that he was not a starter on the team and played around 19 minutes per game.
Due to his sheer size and athletic ability, Dwight Howard should undoubtedly be able to help improve the Lakers’ defense and stop the other team’s centers such as Nikola Jokic. After all, he managed to do just that when the Lakers defeated the Nuggets in the 2019-2020 playoffs. In any case, fans are left wondering if Jeanie Buss got his message and will act in his favor.
