A torn labrum is a muscle or thick piece of tissue that keeps the joint ball in place. This tissue is what protects the arm from hyperextension and helps in controlled movement. A torn labrum can either mean the tissue has ripped completely or partially off the bone. It could also happen around the area where the bicep tendons are attached. In the case of Ja Morant’s injury, nothing has been revealed. But he will need surgery to repair the damage.
What is the expected recovery time for Ja Morant’s injury?
Because Ja Morant is expected to miss the entire season, the injury might be more severe than a partial tear. The Grizzlies have announced that he will be sidelined for the remainder of the season as well after he undergoes surgery to fix the torn labrum. This is Morant’s first major injury in a while and possibly his worst yet.
The expected recovery time for Morant’s injury will be around six months, which is why he will not participate with the Grizzlies this season. However, various sources also claim that a labral tear will take an additional four to six weeks to strengthen the affected area after recovery. But this does not mean that he will not participate with the team at the start of the 2024-45 season.
There are around five to six months of action left before the NBA’s 2024-25 season concludes. Additionally, Ja Morant will have another three and a half months to work on strengthening himself before training camp and the 2024 pre-season takes place. Morant has injured his shooting hand, which means it will take a lot of effort and patience to get rid of any ailments ahead of the next season.
