Heading into the All-Star break, things seemed pretty straightforward for the Golden State Warriors and Stephen Curry. The then #2 seed had multiple games between them and the Memphis Grizzlies in third. And they were primed to extend that gap further once back from the All-Star break.
The positive streak continued for the Warriors as they had 3 All-Star selections, the most of any team in the NBA. Their stocks only rose with the monstrous performance that Stephen Curry put in at the All-Star Game. Curry made 16 3-pointers in an unbelievable shooting exhibition and scored 50 points to bag the All-Star MVP trophy for the first time in his career.
But since the second game after the All-Star break, the Warriors have looked a shadow of their former selves. A complete 21-point collapse against the Dallas Mavericks and Luka Doncic followed. A game later, the Mavericks then defeated the Warriors again and prevented Stephen Curry from taking a single shot in the 4th quarter.
Stephen Curry will not play against the Denver Nuggets
Stephen Curry has vowed to not let the Golden State Warriors continue on this losing freefall. The All-Star MVP highlighted the comfort that was creeping in amongst the Warriors in this poor run of form.
Steph Curry on the concern level about this 2-8 stretch: “Giving in to a losing mentality. We’re not that team. I’m not gonna let us be that team.” pic.twitter.com/Lr4TWI6c63

However, if Curry is to have any say in turning the Warriors’ fortunes around, it will have to wait until after they play the Denver Nuggets.
The Warriors aren’t bringing Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins to Denver. Steve Kerr: “The decision was pretty easy.” This is the rescheduled game from earlier in the season.

The Golden State Warriors have opted to rest Steph Curry for the game against the Denver Nuggets. Curry will welcome the rest but knows the uphill task that lies ahead if the Warriors want to hold on to the second seed.
